When the red band is between

When the red band is between the two white/yellow bands it's a poisonous coral snake ("red and yellow kill a fellow").

When the red touches white/yellow on one side and black on the other side, it's a king snake, or non-poisonous variety.

Used to see them now and then in Texas.

Coralillo

Its one of the 4 species of Corales and its common name is "Coralillo". It is poisonous and it usually bites feet and hands because of its small size of its head and teeth. You can find it in all Nicaragua territory but because of the deforestation its rarely seen in Pacific Region. The diference between Coral and Falso Coral are colors and sizes of the rings. This true Coral is Red-White-Black-White-Red and a Falso Coral is Red-Black-White_Black-Red. I have seen only Falsos Corales but never a true Coral. Where did you find this?

Coralillo....hmm

thanks for your info...actually I hit her on Tola-Rivas dirt road going by banana plantation. It was very early in the morning.

Coral snake

This appears to be a coral snake. Black head, and the red and yellow bands touch ("red and yellow will kill a fellow").

Extremely deadly poisonous sanke.

Coral Snake

Very deadly member of the cobra family. Once a person is bitten, there is little time for treatment and anti-venom. They do not have fangs and they must "chew" on you for a short while to inject their venom.
