Esteli Water SystemSubmitted by fyl on 21 April, 2007 - 08:42.
Over the past year Estelí has (finally) been upgrading its water system. (For what I mean by finally, check out the movie pointed to in http://www.nicaliving.com/node/4781.) The project is getting close to done. All the old asbestos pipe has been replaced with PVC and the system is being expanded. Water tanks have been refurbished and new ones added. It appears the final phase is pump upgrades. Near the public market is one of the wells. It has a large, above-ground pump. I knew something was going to happen because there is now a new electric poll with three transformers for 3-phase power. This morning I noticed a shinny new submersible pump and a bunch of cast iron pipe. So, finally, what the movie talked about over 20 years ago, is happening. ( categories: )
