Volcan Mombacho transitSubmitted by arlington on 19 March, 2007 - 23:37.
![]() Here's a shot of our ride up (the Mercedes) and down (the Toyota 4 x 4). I could see this ride being a lot more difficult following a period of rain. The road is in excellent condition but, cut at better than a 30º angle in many places, paved entirely with Somoza stones. ( categories: )

ive done this before
haha i just laugh thinking about this trip up the mountain. we rode in that truck in the background with the canopy on it. we went on a tour a couple hours after a rain and let me tell you...it was an INTERESTING trip up. we almost lost a couple people out of the back of the truck and it was pretty scary, im not gonna lie. but it was definatly an awesome adventure. id advise everyone to try it out sometime!!! glad you guys had a good, safe trip.

after a rain . . .
after a rain . . . I bet it was a lot more slippery. It was bone dry and hot last week, so there was no slipping around. It is a spectacular view. My only disappointment was that we were either too early or late to see coffee on the bushes - oh and the lack of orchids as well . . . never saw a single one. Maybe it isn't their season either.
luckily
we got to see them drying the beans....it was like 3 years ago so i dont really remember seeing the beans on the bushes or not. the orchids are really pretty, im so sorry you missed out! we went in january, maybe keep that in mind for a second visit!
take care!
