Nicaragua and It's Jewish Population

Jewish Journal offers its read on the current government and Nicaragua's Jewish population. The article has the typical share of FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt) tossed into it. It reads a lot like a political position paper but it is worth knowing the perception.

If nothing else, I guess it documents press freedom.

The lack of trust in Ortega has local Jews on edge. Reacting to the country's delay in supporting a Holocaust memorial resolution in the United Nations, the community has taken to the airwaves of right-wing television Channel 2 to call out the government.

Magdeburg Sting 1936 - Part XIII - Katyn Woods Executions

*I don't care what iranian dude thinks about Jews and Israel *I don't care what Israel and Jews think about Iran *I don't understand this holocaust concept *I know that massacre of Jews was a fact orchestrated by Nazis(6 mlns) *I know other massacres that that had place in history of humanity(check it out here on www: Magdeburg Sting 1936 - Part XIII - Katyn Woods Executions) and this is only a fraction of genocide orchestrated by....Jews *I know that Jews have a very low treshhold of sensitivity toward its own history...also they tend to be very selective if it comes to the facts and its interpretation. *take some time to watch this movie, try to pay attention while watching it----it should sort of enlight you *Click on the link below: this is a long movie almost 1:20

Description: Peace, Propaganda & the Promised Land provides a striking comparison of U.S. and international media coverage of the crisis in the Middle East, zeroing in on how structural distortions in U.S. coverage have reinforced false perceptions of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This pivotal documentary exposes how the foreign policy interests of American political elites--oil, and a need to have a secure military base in the region, among others--work in combination with Israeli public relations strategies to exercise a powerful influence over how news from the region is reported.

Peace, Propaganda and the Promised Land: Media & the Israel-Palestine Conflict *thanks for your attention *

interesting . . . when you consider

that according to Wikipedia there are nearly 500 Muslims in Nicaragua.

Is there another story somewhere from that community where they love Daniel and of course (by extension, at least on NicaLiving) -- Tio Hugo? Maybe in an alternate universe somewhere?

Doors of hope fly open when doors of promise shut. -Thomas D'Arcy McGee

The funniest part of this article is that it had the honesty to admit that there are only 50 Jews in Nicaragua.

If "Nicaraguan" Jews want a synagoge, perhaps they should go buy some bricks and build one like everyone else. Nobody has stopped them. Maybe they can get a grant from the State Department!!!

When is the last time the UN did a resolution for the people who were massacred by the Guardia, much less the millions massacred during the conquest? Massacres and "holocausts", are the sad history of the human race. Funny how some get more publicity than others.

"When you cross that river, Boy, you in a whole differnt country!" paraphrase from Carl Franz

Perhaps you missed the story or the intent of it. It was not a question of peole who probably died for some whatever reason but a resolution for the fact that people actually did die (a giant diference) - attesting to the fact that they are dead at a specific time for a specific reason and that this fact is not a myth! Nothing funny about honesty, usually. The synagogue is their buildig, their property, so it matters quite little if they might build a new one with their bricks or anyone elses. Not publicity manipulation. The reporting base journal was not some outfit preteding to be politically objective but so instead a Jewish journal. Big surprise... No shock there...

It does not follow that there are only 50 Jews in Nicaragua just because the aligned and vocal Jewish community allegedly has 50 members. It is not to say there are a huge number of Jews in Nicaragua. It would be the same as going to some Church organization in the U.S. and asking how many official members are in that State then concluding that is the total number of such people in the State. Problem is so many peoples are not members but considerable themselves of that religion. Regardless you are right that the numbers are very small. That article does not do a great job explaining why the numbers of Jews in Nicaragua has fluctauted for a verie long time and not all bad relations are tied to Ortega.

Why "laughable"?

For Norteamericanos, at least, the Holocaust deserves special attention because it occurred in one of the most "civilized" and "advanced" countries in the world, the one that gave us Bach and Beethoven, the foundations of modern science, and social security. The Holocaust therefore teaches us to be humble about how far we've come and what we're capable of if we aren't mindful of our darker impulses and of the past, not just in "backwards" parts of the world but in the wealthy, progressive West. Speaking of which, what are the quotation marks around "Nicaraguan" Jews about?

Nicaraguans know what bricks are. If they want a synagog here they can go build one. All of the evangelical churches are proof of that. the article is a cheap shot at Nicaragua for pursuing an independent foreign policy, what would have been called ¨nonalighnment¨ a few years go. It´s also called ¨playing one side against the other¨.

President a. of Iran might deny german atrocities, but any american politician would probably deny not just the rape of Palestine but also the very existance of Palestine.

FUD about embracing Ahmadinejad . . .

Sounds reasonable to me. Does it not matter that Ahmadinejad denies the Holocaust happened and has called for the annihilation of Israel?

Until the Left learns to distance itself from flat-earth religious and cultural totalitarians and lunatic anti-Semites its credibility will be doubtful. I say this as a committed Christian, BTW.

Ahmadinejad's Agenda???....The Saturday people first, then the Sunday people! As a Christian, I admire his commitment to his religion, while I recognize "it" is of his father, the devil.

Press Freedom

Always a good sign when there is an ability for minority's to get the message out. Also interesting is the comment that, This time the jews will make their points from within Nicaragua and not in exile.
