Hotel Casa Mateo, Jinotepe

City: Jinotepe Description:

This is probably the ONLY hotel in Jinotepe. It used to be called the Hotel Casa Grande. It's pretty conveniently located: a couple of blocks from the parque central, as well as the cathedral. Also a couple of blocks from the mercado, and the great Italian restaurant Pizzería Coliseo. We ate there a few times, including our last night, when Roger & Melissa (catahoula_fan) joined us. Older building, a little tired, but clean. Currently, it's being run by a Christian organization called Matthew 5:16, and the woman who runs it is named Lynne Schweitzer (I think that's the right spelling!). The Moon handbook describes it as "fancy digs", including an in-room phone (who needs that?), but this really isn't an accurate description. This hotel is used mostly to house people who come down on missions of any sort, be it medical, construction, etc. They do house tourists as well, for which I was thankful. The rates vary quite a deal, from rooms with bunk beds, to rooms on the second floor with an exterior balcony, like the one we had. We enjoyed our stay here, particularly the macaw & parrots in the lobby.

Hotel Casa Mateo

We stayed there in November, 2006, and they charged U$40.00 for one room on the second floor for two people including breakfast. Nice place though. Phone number is 532-3284

well

i wonder why their phone# is deleted. i plan to go there...ufff what's going on? don't they have one?

Well,

I certainly didn't remove the number. I'll see if I can find it (probably tomorrow), and I can PM you with it, OK?
