When I lived in Monsenor
When I lived in Monsenor Lezcano of MAnagua, there was this guy that lived across the street from me that loved to run around in his birthday suit.
He was an older 300 + pound man with Mental Problems that lived with his aging folks. The Parents would lock him out of the house at night and during the day when they weren't home. So he would sleep out on the patio butt naked and hump the air, while making groaning noises, the entire night. During the day he would prance around naked and give random people hugs. Needless to say I don't live in that developement anymore.
Great Shot
Were you like....following him? Maybe it's really that guy from Corn Island. Every town has to have a Jimmy or two, part of life, The interesting part is what the kid's say, and what you tell the Kids. In a lot of Societies Not right in the Heid Folks are considered good Luck. as long as they are not too violent to themselves or others.
No shirts are not allowed in Granada
In Granada and I have seen male locals and 'tourists' as well be approached by police and told to put a shirt on even though the temperature was 95 degrees. It is rare to see this happen as everyone does almost always wear a shirt in the public street.
Trousers (Breeks)
It's not too long ago there was a post on here with reference to why Nica Men don't wear shorts. Only long pants. Not just Nicaragua. Must be their mums telling them even if we don't have any money, we can dress clean and tidy. Your best friend could be the biggest crook, according to your mum he's the best because he dresses clean and tidy.
HE JUST POPPED UP..
I WAS ACTUALLY IN A CYBER CAFE WHEN MY FRIEND TOLD ME THERE WAS A GRINGO RUNNING DOWN THE STREET NAKED AND THEN MY FRIEND SNAPED THE PICTURE OF HIM. I KNEW IT WAS JIMMY FROM HIS MISSING ARM.
rivas loca
anyone seen the loca in Rivas who can been seen most days in just a t-shirt, and if you are lucky, occasionly with her full b-day suit on.
jalaluyah
Rivas Loca
My story about her is at http://www.nicaliving.com/node/369 When I mentioned this to someone they told me there is also a man there with the same habits. If anything, this is more of my "you are accepted even if you are different" theory.
In the US and many other countries, these people would be locked up because "they are a problem". Now, Jimmy is not exactly friendly but lots of people aren't friendly. And his walking around naked habit is "different than cultural norms" but he is well-known here and people just tend to steer clear of him. Locking him (and others) up really doesn't fix anything/anyone and it costs money.
Did you now Jimmy is a gringo?
I thought Jimmy would be dead by now!
Poor Jimmy, to have come all the way from the States to end up in such a state.
You are probably right
Jimmy Eagle, I thought he was from the US, but your story sounds more credible. I've known of Jimmy since I was a kid so I'd figure he is probably pushing 50. People say drugs made him loco but who knows.
U MIGHT HAVE THE RIGHT JIMMY, EXCEPT...
...THIS JIMMY HERE IS NOT A GRINGO.HE WAS ACTUALLY ADOPTED BY AN AMERICAN WHEN HE WAS A YOUNG BOY. HE COMES FROM THE NORTH PART OF NICARAGUA NEAR CONDEGA, HIS LAST NAME IS EAGLE, HE WAS MY FATHERS CLASSMATE BACK IN THE LATE 60'S AT A SCHOOL IN ESTELI NAMED "LA SOTERO RODRIGUEZ", HIS PARENTS WERE VERY WEALTHY AND SENT HIM TO STUDY MEDICINE OR SOMETHING IN COLUMBIA AND THERE IS WHERE HE BECAME "LOCO" HE STARTED WITH ALCOHOL AND THEN CAME THE DRUGS. HE IS KNOWN IN ESTELI FOR TAKING PEOPLES AUTOMOBILES(MOTORCYCLES,PICK-UP TRUCK WHUTEVER HE CAN GET HIS "HAND" ON) ON JOY RIDES. HE'S ACTUALLY TAKEN MY UNCLES TRUCK AND CRASHED IT ONE TIME!! U MIGHT RECALL SOME OF ESTELI'S OTHER FAMOUS LOCAL CELEBRITIES "MARTIN LOCO" OR "PAOLA LOCO"
# of one-armed naked Jimmys in Esteli?
Could all this means there could really be two different one armed naked guys with some sort of gringo connections and with mental problems who wonder aimlessly through Esteli streets?
You forgot Julio Cumbo,
You forgot Julio Cumbo, Marcelino, Lalo (qepd), and "Shakira." Retumbo would qualify as well!
do Estellianos have an exceptionally high tolerance . . .
do Estellianos have an exceptionally high tolerance . . . for the mentally ill. I'd have thought parents might worry about his state of mind . . . do you know how he ended up this way Nicoya?
Every Town
Every Town in Nica has their locos street people wandering around... most of em are chronic cheap hooch drinkers..The community usualy helps them out with clothes and spare change and doesn't pay em much mind when they get mucho loco......
On Corn Island
I am the one usually naked. People don't mind. Everyone was born Naked.
That's right!
As Arjona says, "si Dios te hubiese querido con ropa, con ropa hubieses nacido!"
- If God would've wanted you with clothes, you would've been born with clothes! :P
Arjona
Who is he?
Ricardo Arjona- Guatemalan
