In the street today in EsteliSubmitted by fyl on 8 March, 2005 - 08:39.
![]() The discussion of Herty Lewites as a possible FSLN presidential candidate started in http://www.nicaliving.com/node/view/792. Over the weekend, the Sandinista Congress (that's like the Republican National Committee for you Gringos) met in Matagalpa and said that Daniel Ortega would be the only FSLN choice. In an interview with Sergio Ramirez, he said that this would be taken to the streets. The person posting the information said this meant violence in the streets. This morning, this banner was over the main street in the middle of Estelí. It wasn't there yesterday. At least for Estelí, I think this better defines what "take to the streets" really means. yes to FSLN no Ortega
I have heard from several local Nicas that they would like to vote for the Sandinistas but they don't want to vote for Ortega.
As a foreigner and a potential immigrant (part-time), I'm not sure which party I would prefer to have in power. As a potential land-owner, I find the Sandinistas somewhat intimidating, though I suspect that fear is specious.
