Language Programs/Surfing

I am looking to come to Nicaragua for a month+ in March. I plan to do a month of immersion spanish and am looking for a school that is close to a surf break. San Juan del Sur seems a likely candidate, except that I haven't been getting the best reports on the surf there. I have checked out the places in Costa Rica, but am really not that interested in going back to CR again and would rather check out somewhere new. Anyone have any ideas on places that might fit the bill?

Nicaragua the way YOU want it......

NicaraguaLiving@yahoogroups.com my reply to an association in the US that is charging $2,300 per person for an escorted "educational and cultural experience" too much..I fear.... I am associated with native Nicaraguan Guides and Spanish Teachers who reside in Masaya, Nicaragua, the center of Nicaraguan Arts and Crafts, surrounded by majestic Volcanoes and awesome lagoons and scenery only 17 Miles from the Airport/Managua , 6 Miles from Colonial Granada and Lake Nicaragua, and less than 2 Hours from the Beaches. Our Guides and Teachers are willing and more than able to escort from singles to large groups for far less than the cost of this "excursion" and since they are members of one of the largest political and social movements in Nicaragua, one will be able to choose from a vast array of Volunteer projects lasting from a week through long term if desired. These Guides and teachers are all honest and ensure their clients never get overcharged in markets and retail stores. Send us your itinerary, length of stay, your budget limitations. We have a wonderful Hotel in Masaya from $5.00 Day up per person, depending type accomidations desired, you can be a "backpacker" or a "billionare", whatever if you "Come to Masaya" you are welcome...and welcome to choose according to your time and interests too! Surfing

I have been a Guide in all of Central America for 18 years, now I am a "Tourism Specialist" making Internet reservations since my aging body is unable to trek up Volcano Summits anymore..so here goes...From San Juan del Sur your best Surfing Beaches are...10 Km. or 6.5 Miles North from SJDS by road is Madera Beach, the most popular spot in Nica. for sufring, and other surfing beaches include: Playa El Yanke, 40 minutes south of SJDS by raod and Popoyo, 2.5 hours to the north, with Nica's best breaks. Remote..to reach Popoyo, go to Rivas and from there by local bus or pick up truck take the rough road to Las Salinas, once there ask directions to the Beach. Note---Nicaragua has no "litoral" or Coastal Highway..yet, therefore many surf beaches are not accesible except by boat. A popular alternative is hiring a boat in San Juan del sur to take you to these secluded destinations. Several beaches offer secluded accomidations for the budget through up market visitor. You must negotiate prices once there, I cannot tell you "how much". As for Spanish, download our free beginner's course on www.centralamericalanguagetours.com and start learning the basics, upon arrival in San Juan del Sur, best to contract a private teacher, there are several, ask around and negotiate. My name is Dale Dagger and I've been living in SJDS for ten years. I do surf tours and know the breaks very well. Donald told you right. I do have a surf shack seven min walking distance from two very good surf spots that I will not name. You need a boat or a deed to get there. My neightbors will feed and take care of you. They speak 0 English. You will be speaking Spanish after two weeks or be very thin. run my name through a Gooogle search and contact me for more info.
