Caribbean Dreams Hotel

A great Hotel. Nice people, clean rooms, has hot water, has shower, cable TV, Internet, nice restaurant and the food was great. I think I paid $35.oo for the room. I stayed at the hotel for 3 weeks. It was my nephew 1st time visiting Bluefields, Nicaragua and did not want to leave. We were supposed to be there for 2 weeks, but he was having so much fun with his cousins and he enjoyed the hotel that we decided to extend the stay another week. I was there in July, 2007. I would recommend that hotel to anyone. When i return next year (2009), that is where i'll be staying again.

Thanks,

Clark Palmer (costeño Criollo Nica por la Gracia de Dios

Clark, I agree, Caribbean

Clark, I agree, Caribbean Dreams is a great hotel. I used to stay there before Oasis was built. I love sitting on the veranda watching all of the people going by.

Do they have

the "suicide" hot water shower heads? The ones that always have the wires nuts showing as you reach for the control?

Hierachy of Bluefields Hotels

Stars By central american standards accroding to me:

1. Oasis.... ***** By far the best on the entire Atlantic coast. They also hold an anual fishing Tournament whcih is getting to be popular.

2. South Atlantic (Have not been there for many years I bet it has gotten worse)

3. Tia Irene (Have not been there since 2001) I hear it dropped a lot

4. There is one in Beholden, which I canot remebr the name, it is probably in the same category as Caribbean Dream, But the bario leaves a lot to be desired.

5. Mini Hotel.. -** (yes that's a minus)

6. Hotel at the airport -* better than Mini Hotel but too far.

5. Caribbean Dream *

7. Casa Rosa (specialty Fishing operation)

There are others but they are truly nightmarish...

What about Corn Island???

7 years ago, the South

7 years ago, the South Atlantic was the best option in town. The rooms were tiny, you could hardly walk around. The mattresses were old and had a big dish in the center. The noise from the alley kept us up all night: cats fighting, bottles breaking and gunshots or firecrackers. Hopefully things have gotten better. The hotel does have a huge restaurant upstairs with a perfect veranda for people watching.

After the South Atlantic experience, I opted for The Caribbean Dream Hotel. Several years ago it was $25. Our taxi driver said it is now around $35. Maybe GranadaSherif can check for us. Rooms are basic but clean. The grounds have a nice feel about them; ample rocking chairs for people watching, gated entry, fountain, etc. Located in the center of town but set back from the street (unlike South Atlantic).

I ate at Tia Irene - nice location but didn't see the rooms. Waited for the flight at the Airport Hotel. Basic rooms but spacious and nice restaurant. The airport location makes you dependent on taxis. Mini Hotel is unser construction and looks aweful right now.

I'll do a Corn Island list under a new forum topic.

South Atlantic

I stayed there a little over a year ago, nothing fancy, but it was ok, I think it was around $25 a nt. Had a few drinks at Tia Irene & it was a nice location, but I did not see the rooms, probably more peaceful than South Atlantic

No way... this is "first

No way... this is "first class."

Look

Looks great!

TRIP IN APRIL-BF

I am planning to take a trip down to Nica in April. A week stay to check out the place. Bluefields will be my destination. A friend from there send the link to Oasis. I wish I could meet with some of you guys/gals while am there. Is the $66 for a single room worth it? Thank for any response.

HEADING TO NICARAGUA TOMORROW-4-4-07

Well the time has finally arrived for my trip to Nicaragua. I will be heading to Bluefields. Next stop will be Corn Island for about 2 days. I am a little nervious inside,I guess it's anticipation. I would be nice to meet somebody from this board.

Let's put it

this way. Since i have been coming to this country for a long time, the Oasis rooms are impressive. But say as compared to Hyattt in Frankfurt they are not. So for me who livs here now, I would say I would spend the 80 to 100 dollars a night for 1 night of pampering. My favorite in Bluefields in Caribbean Dream 25 dollars/night A/C, hot water, clean beds.

It was worth it for me... I

It was worth it for me... I took a bubble bath, snuggled up in a chenile robe and drank a glass of wine on the terrace. (Sure beats bathing in cold water from a bucket!). The hotel is actually much nicer than depicted in the photos on the website. There are decent hotels in Bluefields for $40 (Carrib Dream) as well but they are not in the same league.

That was so funny

I was rolling with your comment "(Sure beats bathing in cold water from a bucket!)". Thanks, that was a good one. Do they really have hotels like that in these times?

Buckets not so Funny!!

Not just hotels but plenty of homes. Water is not a given, Trust me, those buckets full of water you see in hotels & homes come in damn handy when the water goes out (which always seem to be at the worst time). The room I stay in on Corn Island has two 5 gallon buckets & I have used them many times (& the water service on Corn Island is pretty good, it is not tied to the electric).
