Snook And Jack - Pearl Lagoon

Some more pictures of fishing in the area. The snook is not bad at about 15 lbs the jack at around 25 lbs. All in the Pearl Lagoon area and lagoons in the back like Smoke Lane, Alligator creek, etc... All fishermen stay in Pearl Lagoon.

Florida records

http://indian-river.fl.us/fishing/fish/pompflor.html Inidcates that the records in 8lbs and change? Really? is there a better place to look for record? what is needed to register records from fishing here in Nicaragua?

Maybe it's not a Jack

The mouth looks pretty big and the back is straighter than a Jack, maybe it's a Permit.

It is

a Jack/Pompano. it is defintely not a permit. It probably looks a little flat on the back because of the pose/ the way it is dangling off the Gaff.

GS...

I think that doccumenting the catch is what counts...

Many world records have been landed here but for lack of proper doccumentation....doesn't count....

What is the Correct P[rocedure???

You are right i have seen 60 lbs sook, huge Jack and monster Tarpons here. so what is the right procedure? Pictures, Samples, witnesses, ??? What?

Procedure

You have to register your fish with the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) . Fish must be weighed on certifiable or legal-for-trade scales within 3 days of the catch date. You would have to contact IGFA and see if there are any certified scales in Nicaragua.

The application form has to be notorized. One or more disinterested witnesses must observe the weighing. The fish must not contain anything or have anything attached which artificially increases weight. If a non-certified scale is used, the applicant will have 30 days from the weighing date to have the scale certified.

You can print out the form at Record Application.

If you want to become an IGFA member Go to

All seafood processing facilitys in Nicaragua

have to have their scales nationaly certifyed....if they export product...

Just a thought....
