a dumb question?
what exactly would someone use this huge hauler to haul? 70 gallons of diesel for each working hour...im sure environmentalists out there are goin crazy!

It's not used anymore
but even bigger machinery is being used in the tar sands in Northern Alberta.
The US gov't used to use long trains with electric motors in vehicles with even bigger wheels to haul supplies up to the early warning radar Dew Line in Alaska. I'll see if I can find an photo in one of my albums.
