Invisible Hunters (Children's Book)Submitted by mjt on 3 December, 2006 - 21:36.
![]() 0785714073, c1993, "The Invisible Hunters / Los Cazadores Invisibles" (Children’s Book), by Harriet Rohmer, with illustrations by Joe Sam. While a children’s book for marketing purposes, it is a folktale in the classic, mythological sense. The tale is obviously derived from early Miskito contact with European explorers (17th century). It is an account of 3 tribal brothers and their special gift (invisibility), and an accounting of their use of this powerful gift and its effect on their selves, family, and traditional culture. The bilingual story is accompanied by unusually striking, traditional illustrations. This award-winning title (Coretta Scott King Honor Book 1987) is available in English, Spanish, and also in a bilingual edition. ( categories: )
