Forums

The forums area is for questions and topical discussion. This link takes you to the forum home page.

Rather than being a "free-for-all" forums are organized into a structure to make it easy to look for information based on subject area. The top organizational level is called a container. For example, there is a container called Education.

Within each forum container you will find forum topics. For example, in the Education container you find topics for General, International Schools, and Spanish Schools.

Within each forum topic you can find any number of discussion threads. Each thread consists of the initial question or statement followed by comments. For example, the Spanish Schools topic has many discussions about schools.

Posting to a Forum

First, not everyone has permission to create new forum topics. If you don't have that permission, there is a special forum/forum topic called Request. Post your suggestion as a comment there and a moderator will consider it. As for who has Forum topic permissions, it is "people we know" and people who live in Nicaragua. If you don't have forum permission and think you should, first, make sure your profile information is accurate. Then PM fyl to request it.

The basic rule is read before you write. Find the most appropriate forum topic related to your question and see what is there. You may find the answer you are looking for or you may find an ongoing discussion where your input fits.

If you don't find what you are looking for, create a new forum discussion. When you create it be careful to select the best topic area. For example, if you are asking about Spanish classes in Matagalpa, you should select the Spanish Schools forum rather than the General one in the Education container.

In addition, think about the title you will use. Summary pages only list the titles so something like I have a question is meaningless. Don't put the whole question in the title. In the example above, if you wanted to know about Spanish Schools in Matagalpa, the title Matagalpa or Classes in Matagalpa? would key the reader on whether it would be of interest.

If you have multiple questions that really don't fall into one area, make multiple posts placing them in the correct forums. It will make it easier for members to respond and it makes it easier for people to find answers to their questions in the future.
