While on the mainland the other day, Merle and I had a beer at a local cafetin. There was a Frente rally that same say and the streetside tables were filled with supporters (and two gringos).
A young kid, maybe 8 years old, with a bright pink hat and tattered black and red flag begged a peso. I asked "what for?" and he said "to buy something to eat." I then asked ("baited" him, really) "Won't the Frente give you something to eat?" He said, "No, they only give us flags and hats." It was cute.
BTW- The FSLN supporters are driving around Corn Island and advertising on the megaphone that DO will be giving everyone free cars and fishing boats if elected.

Next, he'll give them free computers, and they'll get that email saying Bill Gates is giving them millions if they just forward that bogus email message to enough people.
Can someone save me some of those free FSLN hats? I'll make a killing on Ebay with 'em.
