popular music in NicaraguaSubmitted by dirtbag on 24 October, 2006 - 19:41.
With all the political chat going on these days, I thought I would ask a light hearted but legitimate question from those of you lucky members that live in Nicaragua. What music and artists do Nicaraguans like to listen to these days? What's Popular? ( categories: )

There's plenty to choose from.
We Nicas like artists from all over (including the US), but we do enjoy A LOT our own music. I guess it all depends on what you like. If you were a new arrival I wouldn't recommend local music yet, we'll probably shock the hell out of you. I suggest spanish pop. Paulina Rubio, Alejandra Guzman, Gloria Trevi, Alejandro Sanz, David Bisba-something from Spain, and there are others.
but you can't go wrong with . . .

You Can Leave Your Hat On
by Joe Cocker.
At least that's what Roger's workers insist he blare as loud as it'll go when they are on their way to El Gatos in Paso Real de Ochomogo for Friday beers after work.
Roger explained it to them this way, "solo sombrero, no ropa, mucho sexo". They sing these words to the beat of the music, and y'all can imagine just how bad that sounds!
Another favorite is I'd Love To Knock The Hell Outa' You by Hank Williams Jr. Our workers sure have good taste in music!!!

One of the joys of running an internet cafe is that I have a library of 800 songs that I like and, because its free, people play then all day. Sometimes, someone will go to the bother of listening to a regaton number but thats all I hear: mine and regaton.
Mine: Paulina rubio, jennifer pena, julieta venegas, patricia manterola, rebelde, shakira, alejandra guzman. I may be old but I am not dead.
when they play regaton, I take their parlantes away and give them a set of earphones :-) I LOVE the power!

I like how
your site's set up spanglish style.
"All pages on Jinotega.com are offered free to the dueños and gente of Jinotega.", Jinotega.com no es responsible por el content de otra sitios.
LOL. I haven't heard talk like that since I've arrived in Nicaragua until now ;-). Although it might do you some good to work on your spanish a bit more. Otra should have been otro and spanglish is the choice of “language style” of Reggaeton artists.

si, yo esto trabajando en esta problema
;-) mi espanol esta mas mal, si, yo estoy perdido en un pais lleno de extranjeros quien hablan solomente espanol.
Fernando, the owner of JinotegaLife.com, was without competition and his site was languishing. My site did not fly as I thought it would BUT JinotegaLife.com has flourished dramatically. One of those free market competition things, I guess. I am happy that Jinotega now has a first class web site although it just doesn't happen to be mine.

lots of sites.
Theres about a dozen or so sites maybe even more, that are extremely popular, message boards involving the community of Nicaragua.
The catch is they are for the most part completely in spanish, and the conversation tends to not be about Nicaragua.
another Jinotega site.
Heres another Jinotega site I came across. www.jinotegalife.com
Something
to the same effect.

In that case
Freestyle/Club is the music of choice for Latinos and Latinas in the US districts. Most are sung by them ( spanglish Freestyle/Club mixes too – I have a few if anyone’s interested ) and it’s still “underground”.
;-) Not everyone can handle it. lol

cool runnings
I thought Reggae only applied to the Bluefields side. do they play Bobs sons music. He has a new CD just out.
sorry to say
that Reggae and Reggaeton don't have much in common except the name... Reggaeton is Latin Hip Hop, mostly from Puerto Rica and Nueva York. It's kind of loud aggressive music with backwards hats, baggy pants and lot's of attitude. But it can get your feet a tappin with some infectious ritmos.. Ziggy played on the local morning news show in Seattle today. He looked cold...
A little bit of Laura Pausini
Will do the trick, and calm down those wild reggaeton lovers, plus she will get anybody in the mood for ...........
