Duty Free Situation at airportSubmitted by Mark on 18 October, 2006 - 21:02.
Can anyone comment on the duty free situation at the airport? From USA is it possible to purchase duty free at airport and enter Nicaragua? Also leaving Nicaragua and departing to USA is it possible to purchase rum and board American Airlines. Anyone done this recently? ( categories: )

Yes you can
You can purchase DF in any American airport.Done so 1 month ago, coming from Houston. You can do the same thing coming from Nicaragua.
The only problem is when you came from Europe, in same airports like London they will not let you buy any DF.
But may be they will overturn that decision, since DF are losing too much money.

"duty free"
FDC is much cheaper buying it at supermercados and/or On the Run gasolineras and paying tax than by buying it "duty free" at the airport. The only bargains I've found in MGA's duty free shops is Dunhill cigs for U$17 per carton...
FDC a Plenty
I left Managua last Saturday and there was plenty of FDC boarding. When you buy it at the duty free shop they bring it to the gate for you. Right next to the baggage claim in Managua are liquor stores you can make purchases before going thru customs. Hope this helps.
