Ciudad DarioSubmitted by fyl on 19 January, 2005 - 16:34.
Birthplace of Rubén Darío, this town is really just another little cowboy town in the north of Nicaragua. Population is 10,000 or so. Some streets paved, others not. It is about 90km north of Managua on the PanAm and at an elevation of 433 meters. You will see some places called Metapa (e.g., Restaurante Metapa). That's a historical clue. Obviously, the town had a name before Darío became famous and that name was Metapa. See http://www.nicaliving.com/image/tid/36 for photos. |
