Blow machineSubmitted by Huehuete Bob on 20 September, 2006 - 18:28.
In the Miami airport carry on check area coming to Managua I was redirected to this tiny plastic room and had high pressure air (I hope it was air) blown all over me, then had to stand there for another 30 seconds before they let me through. I guess they were looking for explosive residue or something. Anyone ever have to go through this? ( categories: )

Yep, been there..
I got my wallet/i.d. stolen in Tampa on my way to New Orleans a few months back. Without any I.D. I hit every one of those blow machines from Tampa to N.O. and back to Tampa on the way back to West Palm.
Greatest time of my life and I felt like I needed a cigarette after every checkpoint.
Yes in deed
I also experienced the "blow machine" in Indianapolis Airport. Found it funny and i laughed. I'm sure i looked like some kind of hillbilly kid, in my barefeet, jeans, and a white tee shirt. they kinda smiled and laughed at me. friendly people. lol. i would guess they were looking for residue, either of explosives or any deadly residues like Anthrax or what-not.
all i know is that i was kinda put-out that i had to throw away my favorite perfume as i came through security in South Carolina. I totally forgot about the liquid restrictions. ahh man...i was just happy to be getting home.

explosive residue
At first I got excited when I read the title, now I'm a little more subdued.
They have been around now for the last couple of years. You're correct they are looking for organic molecular residue or signatures of explosive or flammable compounds.
My question is, if I fart will the alarms go off?
Well
It felt kinda good..... does that raise your excitement? and farting....depends on what you ate. Gallo pinto might be a problem you know. Very explosive.
welcome.
