Bell South Cellphone - strangeSubmitted by rogertroll on 7 September, 2006 - 07:42.
I am going to Florida tomorrow morning, so to prepare I charged my Bell South cellphone, suddenly it started to ring !!!! What on earth ? well it was my neighbor who dialed my number, and then calls was coming in from everywhere, it works down here. I warned all callers that it might be expensive to call me here on my cell, and asked them to call my local Skype Florida number which is free. Anybody else with this kind of happenings ?? International Roaming
Cingular (Bell South) does work in Nicaragua, it's also expensive. The old phones TDMA will not work but the gait and true GMS phones will work. In some cases you need to contact Cingular and ask them to turn on International Roaming the first time.
Where are you in Florida?
Where ?
Loxahatchee. just west of West palm Beach
Loxahatchee
I rode my cycle through there a couple months ago on my way to Ft. Myers. That's some hardcore farmland. Pickup trucks and rebel flags, git-er-dun!
Loxahatchee groves
Is the first after Royal Palm Beach, you might see some news stories abut that area. October 10th is a election among the residents to incorporate into our own town, the inc bill was flying trough Talahasse with 116 yes and 0 no. This 8.000 acres comunity started in 1917 and they would like to control their own destiny, needless to say, there is a lot of money from developers on the no side, on the map it looks like a big central park now, surounded by developments. Yes there is pick up trucks, some driven by a proffesor or attorney, they just love the area as i do.
Lox
Hey Roger, Hope you didn't take offense to the "rebel flag" comment. It's a nice area and may be a little farther west to the git-er-dun area I was thinking about.
Loxahatchee
That's not very far from me, how long you there for?
I am
Going to be in Loxahatchee 10 days or so from the 12th of this month. Come by anytime or call my cell 561 436 7089
Cingular
When my wife is down there I can call her Florida-issued Cingular cell phone from here. Extra charges apply.
Cingular, yes
Yes John, thats what I have to. I wonder who pays, me receiving or caller dialing? Roger
We Use
Cingular when in Nicaragua, for emergencies, and the funny thing about it is that Enitel and Cingular must have some sort of agreedment, cuze people can call me from Esteli as well, for an average of about $2.50 a minute my cost, the person calling me pays regular charges, I can also dial a local Esteli cell number for the same price for Min, convenient but ridiculously high :-0 Yikes!!.
I have decided to stick to my regular Esteli Cell from now on,after an almost $600 bill from my last visit :-/. I made about 6 calls and received about 8.
FAP
Interesting Roger
Keep us posted. Fluke? It would be nice to know that the cell will work when down there for a week or so.
Sprint
My sprint cell phone works in Nicaragua. Roaming charges apply and there is no caller id info. Roaming charges are prohibitive. Last bill looks like $1.40/minute. This can add up quickly. Julia
