Pizzeria Coliseo In Town 1 block north of Bancentro 532-2150 / 532-2646 Nice atmosphere, seating for roughly 60. Menus in English available. Nice selection of toppings, including anchovy and chorizo. Friendly, helpful staff. No brick oven, but a top of the line commercial. My small 3 topping pizza (120 cords -$6.82) was ready in 9 minutes. Restaurante Rincon Criollo Outskirts of Town 500 meters down the road to San Marcos, on the left hand side 412-2810 Newly renovated, lots more parking. Large menu, good quality dishes, cold, cold beers. Restaurante Casa Blanca South of Town Km 49 Pan Am Hwy/Carretera Sur 886-0057 Chinese food, local dishes as well. They've got a huge menu with most prices at 100 cordobas ($5.68) Large servings. I highly recommend the house specialties. The House Chow Mein was a heaping plate of aromatic noodles, shrimp, beef, etc. The Beef Verdadura was a little weak on the sauce, but the meat was the most tender I've had in my two years of dining in Nicaragua. Parking is a bit crazy as the lot is full of trees. Restaurante Wyoming South of Town Km 52 Carretera Sur/Pan Am Hwy 532-0322 Awesome grilled meats. This restaurant is a must visit if you're in the area. The menu is large, the portions are larger yet, and the quality is, well, worth mentioning here. Besides great food and very reasonable prices, Wyoming's offers a pretty blue pool and hammock areas with shingled roofs and beach sand floors. There's even a nice playground for the kiddies. Staff is garbed in black and whites, and the head waiter is a friendly, knowledgeable fellow who tries his best to please. |
