this was made out of palm reeds by street children in Managua. Dont let one bite you!

You turn

the same green as the bug:-)

hmm

so were the children that brought the bug up all green? now that would be a strange site...i would figure they've all been bit by one or two in their lifetime, if they're runnin around finding them in palm reeds like that.

Poison Content?

Usually, the poison content in the "palm reeds" is very low.

As far as I know; no variety of "palm reed" actually bites.

Not a venomous grass

But saw grass and pampas grass bite. The leaves have hard serrated edges that can cut your when you reach into the plant (or is it when you pull your hand out? I forget which.) Then there's Spanish Bayonet plants, with a hard spiked leaf that will definitely put your eye out. Man, Florida plant life is dangerous!

To bite; by definition, something must have a mouth.

No Mouth - No Bite.

Except for FDC which has bite; but, no mouth.

Does each blade/leaf of the "saw grass", pampas grass" & "Spanish Bayonet" plant have one mouth or more.

I can't find the number of mouths for any of these things on the internet(s).

Hey, John -

speaking of FL, gotten any wind or rain this am? Ernesto is predicted to come up right through the middle of NC, which we are looking forward to (as in, we are DRY!).

Plenty of Wind

Plenty of hot air is blowing out of "John's" office in JAX at the present time and the amount of hot air is expected to increase throughout the day and will probably go forever.
