Little Corn Island

It has been awhile since we have posted. We have been living on Little Corn Island for the past three months and would recommend a visit to this paradise to anyone. We were managing a place on the north end of the island that had the most gorgeous beach where you could be on the beach to watch the sunrise and the sunset.

snorkel north end

Karl, I met you up on that property when we were looking for a calm place to snorkel. Didn't know you were a member. A plug for that area- although remote, it is beautiful and was calmer than the direct eastern exposure. I saw probably the biggest tarpon (fishing or diving) I have ever seen off the outside reef line- a beautiful site.

I have not seen any tarpon around Little Island...yet, I hope. Did you see it snorkeling on the north end?

and it was huge! Usually when i see tarpon while diving they are schooled with others. This one was alone, or possibly the last one of a school.It swam away when i approached.I looked for others but the viz wasn't great due to the wind.It was in about 20' of water behind the reef line off that property. scott

I was always surprised to see people come to stay at our place while we were managing it. I can say objectively that this beach is the most beautiful on little corn . From Dereck s place you have Farm peace and love (Paula and Bing) Ensueno s (Ramone and Marine) and after you have Casa Sunrise (Heiko ) all places not well known but just waiting to be discovered. jst thanks for stoping by . Casa Sunrise

We were managing casa Sunrise ,Heiko s place, for little bit more than 3 months . Heiko has been there for more than 12 years .

Crazy Heiko

I have known "Crazy German Heiko" from about 1992 or 1993. Heiko and his wife used to teach school in Germany and they had one daughter. The wife was from "John Kerry's State" and she and Heiko later divorced. I think that her name was Margaret(?). Heiko had been coming to Corn Island from the Sandinista times of the 1980s.

Heiko used to be good friends with Juevas who is Myers' wife.

Yeas & Nays!

The pictured side is the eastern side of "Little Corn Island" and is isolated.

Many hotels & businesses are located on the western/leeward side which faces "Big Corn Island".

lowlands and highlands only. Live at the beach in FL and like something different when i leave the country (used to go to Nosara on the Guanacaste Pen. in CR alot, very pretty area).

Some of the wonderful photos i've seen recently have changed my mind.
