El SaltoSubmitted by el malabarista on 2 August, 2006 - 11:29.
![]() This is ,for me, one of the most beautiful places in the world. Completely deserted most of the time, a set of waterfalls crashing down to the valley of Achuapa. Several jumps to liven the place up varying from "easy peasy" to "oh bloody hell why did i jump off here?". You cannot access this place by any road but to visit,Achuapa on the road to Esteli stop at el enpalme and ask for El Lagartillo....(say hello from El Malabarista) and ask for Las Lahas....best get a guide from the village at this point as the road is tricky...when you reach the third river crossing turn left and follow the river (carefully) down to the start of the waterfalls. Then climb down the rocks at the side (again CAREFULLY)and you will find yourself at a pool...ideal for nude bathing etc!! Better yet wait until October and i'll take you myself...or ask cigarman he'll know ( categories: )

It is beautiful
I go to neighboring Achuapa every year in summer, where all you hear are the Cicadas singing.
We go there to catch Fresh water shrimp at a friends property, that only close friends are allowed. I have friends in Petaquilla,(close to the empalme and rio Nacascolo).
This past January I did the Walking pilgrimage to "El Sauce" walked 14 hours from Esteli to El Sauce. Thousands did the same thing, they came from as far as Condega and ,Jinotega,San Rafael Del Norte.
Do you know if Los Toruños,still own property in Las Lahas and El Tamarindo ? specifically a gentleman from Esteli named Moncho Toruño?
Esteli has a big population of folks from Achuapa.
