Philosophical BS

The last several weeks there have been a number of people demanding a "Friendlier" Nicaliving. I'll keep this simple, careful for what you ask. Regardless of whom you ask, there is something unique about this site. What makes this site different are the characters? It's the people who contribute to this site ever day. You know what, it's more then that, something most of the people who are seeking the "politically correct site" have missed COMPLETELY. I took the below quote from "El Quixote's" (Morjak)profile:

"We are two who are finally making the big move and are buying a home and small business in Granada. Our previous name on this site was Morjak. We want to say that this site has been the most useful tool we have utilized in our move. The people who write can be rude, offensive, crude, but honest. The people you will meet will be informative and sincere. Wise crowd. You will find that the one's that insult you most or annoy you will be the one's that come through in the long run to help you. I believe they will be friends for life. Although this is to be a biography about us, we wanted to include our gratitude permanently. Blogs disappear. This and the people you will come to enjoy will not."

Pick out the ten biggest SOB's on this site, you know the ones you love to hate, and know this, you will have found no better friends. These are the people who spend hundreds of hours each month making this site what it is today. Do people think the content just appeared one day? Go back over the last two years and look for yourself. What you will find is, it's the same people time and again who start new blogs and forums, add valuable information. The rest of the people add their two cents to those forums or lurk and that's ok. To those of you who love to complain, please take over, I'm tired of this thankless and non paying job. I've been here "Like Me or Not" for well over a year now and I can certainly use a break.

You Won't find other places like Nicaliving where people will "Literally" give you the shirt off their back, if for no other reason then that's the kind of people we are.

I look at the recent survey "Would you pay to subscribe to Nicaliving" and I have to laugh. I know all of the people who voted "Absolutely, If it were reasonable", "Premium content" and there isn't a way to see what people voted, the voting module doesn't allow that. What that means is, most people wouldn't pay two cents for the best damn English language site about Nicaragua on the web.

You want to know what makes this site unique? It's not the facts and figures, there is lots of that all over the Internet. No -- it's the unique bunch of Bad Mouthed, tell it like it is, honest, Nicaraguan loving, give you the shirt off their back people -- I've ever met.

If you want another "Moon" site or "Yahoo" Nicaragua site, say the word. Better yet put your money where your mouth is and become a site supporter and sponsor the site. Personally I think the philosophical BS is getting a lot deeper then the 1, 2, 3 or 4 type posts mentioned in an earlier post. I can't help but think back, not to long ago, when we didn't have to go around and around about this crap, we just learned and enjoyed each other.

The philosophical BS is much LOUDER then the foul mouths, it's just that some people can't hear it because their too busy listening to themselves talk.

God I hope that I don't wake up and find myself in G.D. Disney Land.

If you don't believe me, send a note to "El Quixote" and ask them, "What was your first impression of those 'people I cant stand'. Then ask them how far those same people went, without asking for anything, to make their dream come true.

Peace

"bump"

Ran across this using the horrid droolpal search "feature" and thought this post should get another read or three...

I just hope...

with perseverance and hard work I can one day be on the top ten list of S.O.B.'s.

life is curious.....

i am working to get my name off the sob list.

I hope

You find that endever unsuccessful

what did Archie Bunker once say?

There is a little of me, in all of you!

Lyin' Farmer John Wayne

you know i won't succeed...

i've got that struggle gene in me.

jr-

this is a very prestigious and hard to get on list. You need to work on keeping yourself on it, not getting off. Believe me, without the SOB list we wouldn't have such a huge troll following. Nice to hear from you, by the way. I've thrown a few song opportunities out there to no avail...

Gotta keep up appearances

When an employee appears excessively busy all the time, he gets promoted. The theory is, he appears busy becuase he's so in demand for his expertise or because everybody wants to work with him, therefore he must be really really good. In reality, these people are such scatterbrains they can't get squat done without panicking, and this is why they seem busy all the time. It's a disaster when they become top managers.

Note that I said "appears" busy. Those of us who get our work done without letting our blood pressure rise, leaving time to watch the zinc rust, not giving a damn how we appear to others, don't get promoted because we don't "appear" to be in a constant state of panic.

The SOB principle isn't too different.

This reminds me of Seinfeld

when George acted overly busy and stressed out whenever the bosses were around so they kissed his a**.

Those busy-heads are toast

Don't worry, those busy-heads are toast! Your trickle-downer bosses will tube the company anyway and move it to China or India. Or, they'll replace you with a Chinese or Filipina woman who will work for $15 per hour and run circles around most of you. Thanks to the republicans, your options in the recourse department are few to zero. At least when you are downsized, it will be from the lower position and it won't hurt as bad. Welcome to Globalization! FREE MARKETS!

thanks for reminding my of my duties.....

i am often derelict, but never in doubt. hey, that sounds like a great tag line.

Yes, yes

I like!

tolerance

should include not "deleting" people and their comments for such "offenses" as not rating a photo highly (Miskito Alan and his truly bizarre obsession with Santana).

If people want to make idiots of themselves by name calling and insults, who cares? But a few should not be allowed to censor the site and control what the rest of us read because their buttons get pushed.

Perhaps I should fly away now.

My problem with this site

is I dont know whether to visit Esteli, Puerto Cabezas or Boaco next time I come down. I was aimed at Boaco, but the posts from the other places make it hard to decide. I am very grateful that y'all have made my life difficult, yet enriched. Thanks to all the people that contribute.

Carazo is the place

it is close to Managua, Granada, SJDS, on the Pan american Highway, and it has a cool climate... 25 km to the beach. All in all it is good location to go explore the country from.

I think you may be right

The only reason I did not list it was cause I have been to La Boquita a couple of times and think the beaches and San Marcos and and and are great. So far number one on my list of places to settle, but I want to see the whole country a bit at a time. But Carazo has my vote for the town with the best religious name "Dulce Nombre de Jesus" .

Good does this mean we can talk about girls again

I have a hard time articulating my thoughts sometimes but one thing I know for sure is I have great friends on this site without ever meeting them and they make me proud of where I come from. I just want to thank you for making me laugh sometimes and helping me get through the day with a different perpective. I just hope someday I will be able to past down the wisdom I have recieved from this site.

the more i think about it.....

the more upset i get at someone "concerned" that this place is becoming "low brow." whatta lotta nerve. i respect the people on this site that made it what it is and am thankful for it.

Ya know....

that "low brow" post p*ssed me off so much that I waited two days to calm down before I responded to it.

Do not change this site.....or charge money for it :-).

Thanks

I have been visiting this board for several months now and would like to thank everybody on it. I hate things that are P.C. People who get become P.C. are heading down the road of fascism. Let us not try to over police this board but let it continue down the road of free expression. I truely believe that this board is fine the way it is and should continue being abrasive to some but very informative to all.

Good Reply

Brett: That is a good analysis and the only people that are ever policed here are first talked to by "private mail". Posts are only deleted for obsceity or blantant commercialism. No political censorship or anything of that kind exists here. If a member continually attacks other members in a personal manner; the attacking member is told by "private message" to stop the personal attacks. If that advice is not heeded, the member will be deleted. If the member continues to join after deletions; the ISP providing the service to that member will be contacted about the complaint.

Two Day Wonders & No Thanks

As "John" and I were talking the other day about the subject of how many good friends that we have made on NL and we are thankful for each and every one and appreciate all of them and we have visited each other other and have had great times.

The other side of the coin is that I have been taken advantage of by the "2-Day Members" because I have spent many U$ on telephone calls doing various things for them and I've made hotel reservations for them and arranged taxis for them in MGA and I've spent countless hours giving these "freeloaders" countless information and most of the time, I never even received any thank you and I'm tired of it. Sometimes, the people just don't show up. I don't make money for my help. I lose money.

Another regular member on this Atlantic Coast (not LFJW) has told me the same thing and that this person will never help anybody again.

I was also warned by one of my friends from Granada (not Marty) about helping some of these people and wasting my money and my time.

I think that I will stop except for one reason.

The late John Martin who crashed his twin-engine plane this last May 10 was one man that I thought would never come to Ncaragua much less Puerto Cabezas; but, he came many times and became one of my closest friends and I will miss him forever.

Pat Chitwood was in Puerto Cabezas a couple of weeks ago with his daughter Laureen and they are from Birmingham, Al., which is where I spent the first 30 years of my life and they are truly fine people.

I will not comment on "John" or "padredealyson" on their trips to Puerto Cabezas. :-)

Robert (rcefalu) came to Port and became my true friend.

Richard and Carolyn Becton were great people who visited us.

Many others have come to Port and I'm sure that I'm leaving people out; but, as time permits, I will add my thoughts.

From this point forward; I will help no one that I don't know or who is not recommended to me unless I have a compelling reason.

I'm tired of trying to help people and then get the bad criticism and no thanks for my efforts.

yes, i am......

coming to your way of thinking.

Funny Thing

Pete: You made no mention of International Living which is a very good source for Nicaraguan information.

Maybe, some people would really enjoy that informative website.

Miskito Alan &#174

Good Info Here

If you don't like it here - go there.

http://www.internationalliving.com/

Miskito Alan &#174

International living?????

Biggest sourse of mis information about Nic. I guess maybe we could charge dues here and start paying IL to print the truth.

Oh Pete - Sorry

You also forgot Donald at calanguagetour which is a very informative site for Nicaraguan information.

I will post the URL in a minute.

Just write Donald and he will fix you up.

Really Funny Thing

People that have the nerve or gall or balls or whatever to sign up as members and spend their first two days on NL telling all other members what is wrong with this website.

If the people don't like the website here; just go and join the Moon whatever or whatever else that they can find on the internet(s).

NicaLiving handcuffs nobody to this site and certainly takes no prisoners.

Pete: Yes - I too have had enough of the 2-day wonders that have never been to Nicaragua or spent a week here a couple of years ago and they want to tell me about Nicaragua.

Miskito Alan &#174

Hoo-rah!

Honesty and politeness are almost always mutually exclusive.

On this website, your butt really is big. That dress really does make you look fat. Your toupee does make you look foolish.

hoo-rah sir!

the people who i've clashed with, i've got to know and like on this site. i was hoping santana and peter christopher would come around. then i found out they got outta hand. i believe gringolandia political correctness is outta hand. and bc pc is scoffed at here, i love this site. and it says something for this site for a cheap sob like me who will contribute if need be. the crustiness of some adds flavor. and requiring a fee might keep those out that keep demanding civility. keep the redemption going!

Inside Jokes & such

I have held my tongue in the last few weeks (mostly because I am anything but PC). As I have said before this site is a wealth of information, especially for anyone willing to go back & read old posts. Most of the new questions that pop up now have been answered in the past (some over & over & over again). People keep posting & complaining about all the "inside jokes" when in reality most of what they consider "inside jokes" are rooted in prior posts (do your homework before you start complaining). When I joined NL I had read nearly every posts that had been made up to that point (much easier then than now though).

I would venture a guess (Fyl may be able to validate) that there are more posts on NL on an average day now, then there were in a busy week a year ago. The amount of information that is posted here is staggering. The site must not be as bad as some would lead you to believe, membership grows daily.

The reason I went to the Atlantic Coast was Alan. Had it not been for my correspondence with him, I would not have went there. Like many of you, I had visions of drug smugglers, pirates, & the Lock Ness Monster all rolled up into one. Alan provided me with CONCISE & REAL TIME travel information & gave me contacts in the areas I was traveling. My first trip to Corn Island I was picked up at the airport by a man who knew nothing more about me than Alan told him I was an ok guy, that was good enough for him. He took me to a place to stay & watched after me, we are now good friends & have been known to share a little FDC (is that still PC) on occasion.

I just wish that those of you that are complaining the most would wade through the BS (yes there is plenty), take the good with the bad, & see this sight for what it is, a community. I think many here are looking for a Utopia, well there are some posts here about that too, NL is no Utopia, & most likely Nicaragua is not the Utopia you are looking for either.

Just my 2 cents if it's worth that..........

Well said, cookshow

Lyin' Farmer John Wayne

Lots of good comments

Different perspectives but the same outcome. Keep it light but informative.

I promise to never sound like I know what I'm talkin' about until after I've lived there and can share some real life experiences.

I don't think even a couple of visits can be worth more than your opinion on where you've been and what you've seen/dealt with to that point.

I agree with MA, JR, BZ, and cookshow and if you don't like it, don't read it. Oh, you too John and Pete.

multi tasking.

Maybe we could buy some of those SAM's for $1000, use them to kill a bunch of iguanas with the SAM's, sell the iguanas, buy a bunch of Rottenweilers, have a fiesta centering on Barbque Rottenweiller, use the proceeds Cigars from the Cigarman in Estelli for wholesale, sell the cigars to Cuba, use the proceeds to buy beachfront property in SJDS and advertise in International living, Sell the property to Gringos for double the price, take the profits and invite Santana back, have her set up a porno site, use the profits to support Ortega for president, When he gets elected we can call in his debt to us and buy Corn Island for the excluse use of NL members..........What do you think?

that's a business plan.......

anything you know about santana that you want to tell us? kinda reminds me of the guy in canada that traded several times, took a paper clip and eventually traded up to a house. rcefalu, you are just creative enough to do it. good luck. i'd like a beachfront piece of corn island. ok?

Best laid plans

What about Santana2?

Perhaps

She's baaaaaaaaaaaaacccccccckkkk
