Prensa Latina IS the Cuban Government

I hope no one is thinking Prensa Latina is some kind of legit news organization like Reuters or the Associated Press.

It is the Cuban governments press agency. It would be the same as you reading everything the US State Department put out. It's not press coverage as you might expect. It is the Cuban government putting out what it thinks is important. Thus the heavy coverage of doctors strikes and such.

Many consider Prensa Latina to be nothing more than a front which allows the Cuban government to place people in countries as journalists to gather information.

If you do any kind of digging, you will find each and every "journalist" with Prensa Latina is strongly connected to the Castro government and it's intelligence agencies.

I'm not saying everything they print is a lie any more than I would say everything the US State Department prints is a lie. But you have to consider the source and understand both have their own political agenda which will be followed when distributing information.

And your point is? :-)

Phil is smart enough to have known what Prensa Latina was when he put the link there.

I wasn't concerned about Phil

My post was for others who read the article and don't realize where it comes from.

Yep, I know

Who's sounding like an honorary Cuban in Miami now, amigo? Je je.

Radio Havana

I listen to Radio Havana on the shortwave for Spanish practice but, it's OK. I don't understand enough of it to worry and my aluminum hat keeps the waves from deep penetration. Sadly, I understand every word on FOX and it gets right through my hat. How does one go about forgetting English. If you get a bottleinfrontame will that help ; )

You're making me laugh

You're making me laugh John!

At this point I must admit, my life and work bring me in contact with Prensa Latina people quite a bit. Even they won't deny what I am saying in a one on one conversation.

Inside the US it would be looked at as some kind of scandal. In fact, I guess there has been some kind of outcry over government planted media reports showing up on regular tv newscasts and newspapers in the states.

Outside the US, it's just "known" and accepted. Especially among government and media people.

But you're right John...I do sound like an honorary Miami Cuban! -smile-

Daniel Ortega: "respected" for WHAT?????

This is a Cuban publication and

seems to mostly cover the doctor strikes and the riots over bus fare increases in Nica. I recently took it off of my favorites. I think fyl is their Nica correspondent.

Probably not

But I sure sense the influence of George Soros.

Wow! No kidding...

and I thought NicaNet was bad! Have you seen that site?

"Balanced coverage..."

Reminds me of the "sponsor" that is a mouthpiece for Chavez. Supposedly, this "sponsor" gives "balanced coverage" of what is "really happening" in Chavezuela. And the tooth fairy will visit your home tonight!!??

BTW, anyone see the upcoming travel itinerary for Chavez? He's visiting Tripoli, Teheran and Pyŏngyang!! Guess he didn't have time for another visit to Fidel...

Sigh...

Daniel Ortega: "respected" for WHAT?????

He's going where?

I'm sure he just wants to help the poor people of those countries with some reduced-cost oil. It's all in the name of Bolivar's big dream, after all.

Link?

What link?

Right There

You dont see it?

Ooops...

sorry 'bout that. I guess I thought I'd see it in the comments area, not below! Thanks, Pete ;-)!
