Why - Why
1st the Blacks wanted an Equal Employment Opportunity, and we did listen. Now the Tacos Zapatas-Border Jumpers wants to change the meaning of: Illegals to Legal. Que Mierda !
Blue ,,,/ {' ;'} Miskitu
Why arent we
Changing the law??? Heres the thing. I know illegal immagrants...they go to my school, their parents work in the local stores/dairy farms. they were "imported" by truckloads by the owners of these farms in the area. Of course they'd willingly take the free ride to the USA, who wouldnt with our reputation. But now the kids are haveing to SLOWLY conform to the schools, if at all, and some of them (at highschool level) dont even know how to read/write in Spanish, let alone English. So they're now learning both...and they're making things work. Im proud of some of them, really.
Now heres the deal...the kids, and parents, WANT to become citizens, an actual part of this country. But the thing is...it takes seven years to acquire citizenship as long as you have all the papers and what-not. well thats great and all... but to the parents with starving children...what sounds better? acceptable jumping the fence to the ever so "wonderful" USA, or spending seven years waiting... watching your children starve. So they feel stuck...and now that they're here, they dont wanna get caught by immagration.
So going back to my origional question, why dont we change the law?? change seven years to 2-3 years. something. why should it have to take so long? they're actually taking part in the country, make them legal faster then they can pay taxes and everything. if peoples worries are the mexican people takeing advantage of the free services here in the USA, well the "American" people do a great job of that themselves. heck, as Mexicans coming into the USA and using the free services, they're being more "American" than anything. If illegals are going to be here, why not make it easier. Thats what this countrys all about, isnt it?... making things easier and being lazy?
This is my naive opinion. lol.

No Burritos-.........................................
equals no cholesteral, no trans fat, no processed white flour. America can use the change!
I've long thought that Americans who resent mass immigration should stop patronizing the businesses who hire immigrants en masse, and the fast food restaurants are among the worst culprits. In the past 2 years I've cut back 90% on my use of fast food places and I'm feeling just great.
"Tempus fugit"
You folks
still on this subject? I’ma open a burrito shop when I return to the States. I thought the image was funny because it’s just like my Latin American counterparts to be so silly in the face of adversity.
Did everyone notice the LARGE Pancho Villa sombrero? LOL.
Only congratulating and participating allowed. Feel/Dig? I just don't have the taste for hating.
illeagal is illeagal
If any body thinks they can do things like this in anyother country in the world you are just nieve. I have to show reason to be in NIcaragua if not and it has happened to others Immigration will Box their azz rightly so.
Either a people has laws or they dont, if you dont like the law change it, Period

the problem is . . .
the US has this big sign in the harbour at New York that says it takes in the world's unwanted. Take down the sign and stop shouting that you're the greatest place to be. You don't see Mexico advertising or proclaiming to be the land of the free, the greatest country that there ever was. Your advertising is a little overstated but, tremendously effective. Apparently more effective than you had hoped. If the (primarily, not exclusively) US based-multinationals would stop treating the rest of the world like offshore slaves, maybe they'd stay home. It's hard to keep them on the plantation once they've seem American-idol.
Yes
It's right next to Ellis Island where immigrants were processed. There was a law then, as there is now. Not everyone made it to Manhattan.
That sign
Its an old sign. The intent was very good, but as in many things there were immigration laws then that dont exist now. Just as the constitution which is much older means little in these days, so those words are no longer valid in this new world.
indeed . . .
back in the good olde days ; )
In the Good Ol Days
The Irish were the scourge of the earth and the Italians were scum. The difference was, the majority came through legal process.
yes . . .
an ocean will increase the legal number. Instead of building a fence, maybe with global warming they can increase the depth/width of the Rio Grande ; )
How Many Miles?
I always remember all my grandparent's telling me how many miles they walked to school and sometimes had no shoes and the ground was frozen.
My "good ole days" have been my last 15 years in Ncaragua.

Espero . . .
my next 15 years are my good old days ; )
Let's treat illegals Mexican style
I must first say that I have no bone with immigrants...I am about to become one...The operative word in illegal immigrant is "ILLEGAL" If you think these trespassers are mad about U.S. immigration policy now, imagine how upset they would be if we adopted the way Mexico treats illegal aliens.
Under a constitution first adopted in 1917 and subsequently amended, Mexico deals harshly not only with illegal immigrants. It treats even legal immigrants, naturalized citizens and foreign investors in ways that would, by the standards of those who carp about U.S. immigration policy, have to be called "racist" and "xenophobic."
For example, according to an official translation published by the Organization of American States, the Mexican constitution includes the following restrictions:
* Pursuant to Article 33, "Foreigners may not in any way participate in the political affairs of the country." This ban applies, among other things, to participation in demonstrations and the expression of opinions in public about domestic politics like those much in evidence in Los Angeles, New York and elsewhere in recent days.
* Equal employment rights are denied to immigrants, even legal ones. Article 32: "Mexicans shall have priority over foreigners under equality of circumstances for all classes of concessions and for all employment, positions, or commissions of the Government in which the status of citizenship is not indispensable."
* Jobs for which Mexican citizenship is considered "indispensable" include, pursuant to Article 32, bans on foreigners, immigrants, and even naturalized citizens of Mexico serving as military officers, Mexican-flagged ship and airline crew, and chiefs of seaports and airports.
* Article 55 denies immigrants the right to become federal lawmakers. A Mexican congressman or senator must be "a Mexican citizen by birth." Article 91 further stipulates that immigrants may never aspire to become cabinet officers as they are required to be Mexican by birth. Article 95 says the same about Supreme Court justices.
In accordance with Article 130, immigrants - even legal ones - may not become members of the clergy, either.
* Foreigners, to say nothing of illegal immigrants, are denied fundamental property rights. For example, Article 27 states, "Only Mexicans by birth or naturalization and Mexican companies have the right to acquire ownership of lands, waters, and their appurtenances, or to obtain concessions for the exploitation of mines or of waters."
* Article 11 guarantees federal protection against "undesirable aliens resident in the country." What is more, private individuals are authorized to make citizen's arrests. Article 16 states, "In cases of flagrante delicto, any person may arrest the offender and his accomplices, turning them over without delay to the nearest authorities." In other words, Mexico grants its citizens the right to arrest illegal aliens and hand them over to police for prosecution. Imagine the Minutemen exercising such a right!
* The Mexican constitution states that foreigners - not just illegal immigrants - may be expelled for any reason and without due process. According to Article 33, "the Federal Executive shall have the exclusive power to compel any foreigner whose remaining he may deem inexpedient to abandon the national territory immediately and without the necessity of previous legal action."
Sombrero boy in the pic has a point, no legal US citizen would work at Taco Bell for $4 an hour. No illegals in the work place might force corporate America to pay all workers a living wage. And if that pushs a value menu burrito up to $1.39 instead of 99 cents... I'll happily pay the difference..

Very well said!

Viva Mexico
Most countries seem to have similar restrictions. Dont know if I agree with them all, But I would certainly agree to most of them for the U.S., Nicaragua and the rest of the Americas. All countries have the right to control immigration according to thier own laws. All countries are independent entities and independent peoples. liberalism in the U.S. has come to the point where the will and law of the legitimate citizens is overwritten by the wants of those illegaly in that country. Now that you may think I am a right wing radical, read my BIO. I still remember when my wife got her citizenship in the U.S. during the swearing in ceremony of around 500 new citizens one party had thier people going arount to each person signing them up as members to one of the political parties.....wonder why?
Never Spent a Night There or 5 Minutes
I obey the laws of the USA (America) as far as I know them and I don't think watching the zinc rust is against the law now even there.
I obey all laws that I know of in Nicaragua because I don't drive here any more and I've never had a problem in 15 years.
Never spent 1 minute in any jail or been arrested.
Alright - I'll throw it down down. I'll play the card.
The Mexicans saw illegal non-violent protests work before in the USA (America) and now that seems to be the favorite flavored tactic of the day.
Maybe, all illegals will take their burritos back to the house and fight over who was elected Presidente of Mexico yesterday.

I make burritos
I just make my own burritos.........With a little Italian twist. Anybody want some?
Italian Burritos
Yes, they call it pizza.
Yes But
When you stayed several days in Puerto Cabezas, you let Marisol do all the cooking and you offered no "Italian Burritos".
I won't go into the great gifts that you brought us.
Miskito Alan ®
Italian
I hope to be there soon again and I will cook Italian for you friend.
Would that be a . . .
Manicotti?
Whatever it is, an Italian burrito sounds good. Maybe because it's almost lunch time.
I don't understand
The secret to making burritos only lies within the minds of those here illegally? When you come here legally, they take away your ability to cook?
Well, it was posted under Humor. I can see the humor, however ironic.
Seems
US illegals/other countries' "poor"/aspiring immigrants are the backbone of their own countries also.
Only congratulating and participating allowed. Feel/Dig? I just don't have the taste for hating.
Nope
In legitimate governments Illegals are sent back. Only those countries who have accepted the ida of total free admittance have fallen into oblivion. Now,I love this country (Nicaragua) And I still love my original country the U.S. But love the people or not, every country and people have the responsibility to limit entry to thier country.......the alternative is ararchy.
and crowded unemployed anarchy
With the US population counting down to 300 million, social and economic welfare programs gasping for air and a president who spends money like a stoned teenager in a food court, I just don't think we can accomadate 12000 illegal aliens entering the US every day, or about 4 million per year.

Afford?
How does the USA (America) also afford their little lifetime war in Iraq and the July whatever deadline that was announced today for Iran and that little upcoming thing of a war and the USA (America) will be in Israel before long and North Korea is looming and the whole thing is going to be out of hand and World War III will commence.
A few Muslims kill a couple of thousand people in the USA (America) and GWB sends them a few more thousand to kill. No Sense.
USA (America) should have stayed in Vietnam like the French for so many years and maybe none of this crazy stuff would happen.
If the USA (America) would stop worrying about the oil and people who have been fighting each other thousands of years, the borders could be protected.
Only Good Thing - No Time to Molest Nicaragua.

God willing... i will have escaped to mi novio in Nicaragua by then. im done with this President stuff here. insanity. 2008 cant come around fast enough...and once that does, there's no promise that things are gonna get any better. ahh well... nothings perfect.

Viet Narm
Nope, My childhood freinds went there. I did too but only on a ship that was never fired on. Miskito, you had to be there to really understand. True it was all screwed up, but you had your buddies and can never say they were there for no reason. My own friends came back poco loco...But they were not helped at all by those who hated them.
I Didn't Hate Them
I hated the politicians who sent them to die for nothing.
Reasons for being there? LBJ - Bob McNamara - Slow economy.
Miskito Alan ®
Yes, Alan
It was a long time ago....It happened and many of us young guys decided to go Many of my friends came back disabled and hurt in thier minds. Could tell you of particulars about that but I dont think you really are interested. The politicians are always to fault for what happened, but the people like me believed. Dont ever hate the people who went, they were only thinking what they heard from the so called politicians. And they were the innocents who became something else.
Wrong - I'm Interested
I've never hated or thought anybody who made the decision to go to war was wrong.
I am interested in the particulars.
That just makes me hate the politicians that much more for destroying young lives who never had a chance to live and have children and grand-children and all the holidays and everything else that I have have been so lucky to have in my 59 years.

High school
In my graduating year, had someone back from Viet nam to tell the truth. Scared us completely.....later had friends go there....came back crazy. Always loved my friends till they came back and told me about it. Went mysel, but in the Navy, far from the battle. My old friends will never have children or grand children.....they died. I can only remember them and respect them for who they were. Only My old friends who will never be able to converse with me again.
High School for Me
I graduated with the most gentle guy in the world named John Bailey. He was about 6 feet and 6 inches tall and weighed 250 pounds and was shot out of his helicopter in Vietnam and killed before he was 20 years old. I still don't know why except that the military recruiters came to the high school.
John Bailey was tall and simply could not play basketball; but, I will never forget him and his kindness and his face.
You and I have done well if we die tomorrow.
Miskito Alan ®
Now I remember
His name was Vic Cupido......was a common soldier in Viet Nam. Told me many stories about racial fights, bodies that blew up when they touched them etc.
Yep - Iraq
The two USA (America) soldiers who were kidnapped, brutalized beyond identification, and killed the other day were booby trapped too.
I'm Sorry - Just goes on & on and for what?
Well - at least LBJ & Bob McNamara were worried just about "dominoes" and not like GWB and Rumsfeld who were worried about non-existent WMDs.
Come to think about it - the "dominoes" didn't exist either because now the "domino" is the favored trading partner of the USA (America).
If the USA (America) had not invaded Iraq; maybe the Scuds would have killed some of the Palenstian terrorists or whoever is the "terrorist of the day".
The "dominoes" or the "nonexistent WMDs" were never any threat to the USA (America).
Miskito Alan ®
Yes
If we die tomorrow...........My friend unfortunately died driving drunk, killed 3 when it happened. Always thinking it had to do with Viet Nam. He was so innovent before, learned to do drugs there. You know, I cant even remember his name.
Invasions - Where?
At my age; I have just come to the conclusion that all wars are stupid unless someone invades a country and then that country should fight back and repel the invaders.
Actually, that is what Iraq is doing.
A few Muslim idiots reeked havoc in the USA.
Iraq did not invade the USA.
Iran has not invaded the USA.
Somebody else can tell me when Nicaragua, Panama, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Grenada, Salvador, Guatemala, Vietnam, or Korea invaded the USA (America).
I can't find the info in the history books or on the internet(s).
Any links would be appreciated.
Miskito Alan ®
Going to sleep
True, but Now I have come to the conclusion that when I know that I am really retired I will go to sleep when I want to......Good night MA
Nicaragua Too!
Nicaragua will ship illegals back in a "NYNorm Minute".
Imigracion just leaves me alone after 15 years of legality.
