You Have the Controls!

Well, any future father-in-law has to check out his daughter's beau to see if he has the "right stuff", right? So, in my case, that meant he had to take the plane "around the block for a ...." -- I would say "spin", but that word has an entirely different context in an airplane :)

We went through the "You have the controls / I have the controls" ritual, and we were immediately treated to a roller coaster ride that went down, up and twisting to the left and right! "Dad" calmly talked Chale through getting back to "straight and level", but after 3 minutes of him flying, he was begging me to take back the controls!

Amazingly, the same airplane that "had a mind of its own" and was doing crazy things, suddenly was docile and obedient again. I told Chale, that she (the plane) had a mind of her own, and was taking advantage of him. She knew who was BOSS!

Actually, after flying out to Puerto Somoza, and heading back to Managua, I wanted to get this picture of Chale at the controls, so he got a second chance at flying. This time, he did a great job keeping straight and level while I snapped a few shots!

Good job, Chale ... ok, I guess the wedding's still on.
