FSLN Evolution

I just somewhat accidentally tripped on an article about what I would call FSLN Evolution. You can find it here. It is titled "The Rise and Fall of FSLN" and was written two years ago by Alejandro Bendana.

II find it to be a well-written and objective look at what happened between 1979 and today including enough background to better understand what was being attempted and what happened. It deserves reading to understand but it could be characterized as pro-FSLN, anti-Ortega. But, again, this one-liner doesn't do justice to the analysis.

What happened in 1990

There is an interesting book, although only available in Spanish, called "La Dificil Transicion Nigaraguense". It explains the behaviour of Ortega and Company before and after the elections. Written by Antonio Lacayo...who has an article printed today en END in the opinion section and he gives his opinion about Ortega and why he is going to lose the forthcoming elections.

Article

Excellent paper written for your information by the HUSBAND of Zoilamerica Narvaez , stepdaughter of Daniel Ortega. Anyway it does not change the quality and objectivity of the paper.

here's something I found . . .

about the earlier days of the FSLN. According to the article (from a very conservative website/journal - FrontPage) there are secret KGB files published in a book titled "The World Was Going Our Way: The KGB and the Battle for the Third World"

It's really cool if you are into knowing the secret codenames of various groups and individuals . . .

Not dead yet

While I appreciate the authors point of view, to say the FSLN is dead is misleading. Especially since Daniel Ortega controls the entire Supreme Court of this country. In many ways, sadly, Ortega stills has a strangle hold on Nicaragua.

He currently uses the court to raise funds for this years presidential campaign. Justice is for sale and when it comes from the Supreme Court of Nicaragua, there is no appeal process available. It is still common to pay for your justice decisions here. Meet the judges price and they can hold off just about any legal order. But it takes a daily fee to maintain the stay so the price tag never stops going up. There is a well known hotel run in San Juan del Sur by a very good American who is finding out first hand how much justice cost simply to stay in business and hold onto your property.

Thank you webtrainer!

Now that's interesting! I wonder if the FSLN's anthem still referrs to "the yanqui, enemy of mankind."

Kinda sounds like Osama bin Laden.

I was hoping to find out if Comandante Ortega had a code name, but the article didn't say.

Yes it does

It still does say that John.

FAP

I am the enemy of mankind.

Now, isn't that special.

it says

"We are fighting!! Againts the Yankee!! The enemy of Mannnnnnnkindddd!!.

FAP

Or It Says...

"We are fighting!! Against Mannnnnnnindddd!! The enemy of the Yankee!!

Just curious

if you have a link to the lyrics on the web. I couldn't find it on the official FSLN party website.

He's one, too

Bob Dylan is the enemy of mankind, too. So's Jimmy Carter. And Miskito Alan, and Fyl, and Pete, and Santana, and STS, and that John guy wherever he went. Hey, it's fun to be a Sandinista!

Your Bio Picture

You look a lot like John & FDR.

You must be some of the "enemy of mankind" from Jax.

Did you ever have a house in Warm Springs, Georgia?

Miskito Alan &#174

No house in Warm Springs or Rancho Santana

FDR was the enemy of mankind, too. And Truman (the only president to use nuclear weapons), and JFK, and LBJ.

PRICELESS!

Oh, Fyl, really good history and the following wonderful embedded comment: "After more than a decade, the nine leaders lost their demigod status; some even left for Harvard to study public administration."
