FDC in NHSubmitted by parrotheadnica on 23 May, 2006 - 20:24.
hmmm - the topic doesn't fit this. i just wanted to say that tonight for the first time in a very long time, i had a taste of fdc. back in january, i'd brought back 3 bottles of 18 yr - one for my daughter, one for her father, and one for one of his friends, and i really thought my daughter would leave me a little. nope - off it went, and i figured it was gone for good. she moved back in for the summer, and i found the bottle stashed in the cabinet. yippee - it's a bit nippy outside, but that little glass has warmed me up jess fahn. Should we call
An ambulance?
Has that glass harmed you in any way?
You sounds like you need a friend right now to share the nectar with :-)

sure do!
come on over, and maybe you can speak Italian with my daughter. I'll tell her she has to bring back her FDC....
Sure thing Melanie
I will be honoured to speak with you and daughter in italian or any other chosen language. Very important issue that she doesn't forget the FDC, ciao a presto :-)

Did you know
That flor de Cana can improve your spanish language fluency? Really, everyone tells me I speak better after one or two....this needs some serious scientific investigation. Actually, you know that you can buy FDC online for about 3 1/2 times what it costs here.

Anecdotal evidence is all
Anecdotal evidence is all we've got at este punto. Pues, I concur that espanol is spoken mejor con un trago o dos. Despues de tres, tal vez pensamos we speak better spanish. Estoy tomando un trago de FDC ahorita este noche. Es muy rico. Good times!
wow!
i can see your spanish, at least the written kind, certainly improved as you wrote. And since you were quaffing a bit of FDC at the same time, this is Proof Positive that it works!
si, muuuy rico!

I thought I was the only one who experienced this!
I'm so glad to hear that others have this experience - I'll have to try it again, then maybe I'll be completely fluent within the year. If not, I'll be awash in fdc....speaking babble.
You just reminded me
Of my nonno, he use to say that with a little bit of vino, he could speak german fluently, the only problem was that nobody was able to prove him wrong, since we had no german aquaintance.
Let the FDC flow

No local supplier in NH
parrotheadnica,
we have got to somehow convince the state store to carry FDC. I am down to my last bottle (Grand Reserve 7 year old) and I bought it in Athens GA two months ago when travelling on business.
FDC in Central Florida
Went to ABC Liquors in Daytona and found FDC there for the first time. The 750 ml bottles of the 4 year old rum was all they had. There were about 5 bottles on the shelf. It was $13.79. I'd paid $9 for a 1.5 litre bottle at Juan Santa Maria Airport, SJ, Costa Rica in March 2005. Anyway, I'm enjoying a drink now on ice with a splash of water. Its the best rum ever made.
FDC in NH
the farthest north i found FDC was in the DC area, some dinky liquor store had it there. i look in just about every place i go, wondering if it will be there. had i thought about it, i'd have looked in beverage warehouse in burlington - one of the most truly awesome selections of wine, beer and hard liquor i've ever seen anywhere. no victoria, though. if i ever locate a source for it, i'll let you know, and we can hook up for a few. something tells me the Live Free and Diers aren't likely to want Nica rum in their State stores. pretty tough living in such a place, isn't it!
farther north
New Jersey has FDC. its about $18 a bottle for the 7 year.
Not too bad a place to live
I moved up here from Georgia due to a company promotion. Living in Concord isn't that bad. And it's through locals here that I got my first contacts to Nica and was asked to take my first trip down. They wanted some people who had business experience to make the trip and evaluate how financial support was being used. All the people involved were liberal, church people with good hearts but not always objective.
I fell in love with the land and the people on that first trip but not FDC - that came later. it was difficult to have a nip on the first trip. We were constantly travelling with leaders of a local protestant denomination, and we were afraid of offending them by doing something like drinking. Funny thing was, they didn't offer any Victoria as they were afraid of offending the "church people from the north." I have found since that they will have a beer but do have issues with overuse of alcohol and it's impact on families.
But we do have to find some sort of FDC source close by!
FDC near the Canadian Border
Strange but true a few of the up scale Washington state run liquor stores in the Seattle area carry FDC....Trouble is it costs $47 US for a bottle of Centario... I had only two rum drinks during the month I was in Nicaragua. It was those three souvineer bottles I brought home that gave me the taste. Needless to say my friends got nothing but postcards..
