Santana...Suggestion
You'd probably be better served joining a very interesting forum :
www.oklahomaliving.com
it seems that you have very little idea of Nicaragua...
By the way...careful with Rancho Santana...you got title deeds? I'd advise you to go see your lawyer quickly...things are going to explode...very soon
The silence is deafening...
Well... I am waiting Tom, Tom. Feel free to divulge your Rancho Santana information at any time. David
Haiti
You must be getting a lot of good information in Haiti about Rancho Santana?
There are others here that might be negatively impacted by information you have, can you please share with us what you know?
Santana posted this because she was told of of Gar in Nicaragua and figured they might be the same fish, see where she posted in response to you further down.
I'm sure it was a pretty innocent post.
re: Haiti
"There are others here that might be negatively impacted by information you have, can you please share with us what you know"?
As Pete said, if you have information about the downfall of Rancho Santana or other developments, please share. Since you are a self proclaimed expert on Nicaragua, I wouldn't expect anything less then news reports or website information backing up your claim. Please provide those links that would give your statements credibility.
I recently met David on this website and I know for a fact he would like to hear your information since he is presently considering buying at R.S. It may be to late for me, but perhaps not for him or others considering the purchase.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to inform us all on what "you know" but we don't :)
Big but no record
Alligator Gars have been reported much bigger than this one.
The Gars, Forest Preserve District of Cook County
Alligator Gar
They catch these in lakes, creeks & rivers all over Oklahoma, the ones this big are usually found in the Red River along the Oklahoma/Texas. I have several friends that have caught them in excess of 200lbs, but this one looks alot bigger than any I have ever seen.
re: Cookshow
Opps, just saw your post cookshow...these are nasty looking not to mention they might snack on people?
It was reported to be 8-10 ft and weighs 327 lbs.
Big question...have they made their way to Nicaragua?
Nicaragua?
Not sure if they are in Nica, but the river system there would certainly be to their liking. They are prehistoric looking, the one you pictured is actually pretty nice looking, the ones they catch in the rivers usually look a little rougher.
Aligator Gar Do Occur In Nicaragua!
Mr. Phillippe Tisseaux of San Carlos Sports Fishing states, "We have two diferent species of Gar around San Juan River, the common Aligator gar , and the tropical gar." (http://nicaraguafishing.com/pagina_nueva_2.htm ) I haven't seen any and the locals claim that they don't occur in our river systems in Prinzapolka.
So, I guess Santana can't really be faulted for showing a Texas-sized version (from Oklahoma - sigh) of the ones found here!
Please forgive me if I don't respond for a long time 'cause I may be back in Prinzapolka! Regards, Mupitara
Been there and caught 'em
Actually we snagged two of them while fishing on the Rio San Juan while trolling for tarpon.
They were not more than 20-30 pounds though.
Oklahoma Fish
Dear Ranchita Santana the fish was caught in Oklahoma? Is this a website about Nicaragua or about fishing in Oklahoma?
El Gallo :::hic::::
oh hush up..there are plenty of things that are posted about the US here..and since there was a fishing catagory..I added my big fish in it. You're just jealous you never caught one !
But, since you want to pick on me to make yourself one of the "minions" I will make this picture Nica related!
Anglers of the board....has anyone ever seen one of these fishies swimming in Lake Nicaragua or anywhere else in the country????
Big A$$ Gar
This has got TO BE a Huge Gar or Gaspar
Just when you thought it was safe to go into the water!
Cigarman how'd you know? I freaked when I saw this picture....as for being phishy ....one of my friends sent it to me...guess it's making it's way across the internet. However, I doubt it's been edited because I have another picture of it with the weight and name of the fish. BTW...it's an alligator Gar...now I know there are gators in Nicaland..so I will assume that a gar could mate with gator and produce a gator garr? Causing them to inhabit the lakes of Nicaragua? LOL
hmm this seems real fishy
a Platecarpus of course :)
Suspiciously fishy
This whole fish photo seems suspiciously fishy. If the fish was caught in Lake Nicaragua my guess would be sturgeon. I have heard that 22ft sturgeon have been measured in Lake Nicaragua.
