Apoyeque Crater

A little closer to Managua than Momotombo, this volcanic crater is right next to the Los Brasiles airport and next to the Xiloá balneario.

Due to lighting and shadows down in the crater, this picture doesn't do the true emerald color of the water justice. However, there was no way I planned to venture any lower to get a better shot! I was flying approximately 1,000 ft. above the rim of the crater, and even then, could feel a bit of downdraft ... go I applied power and hightailed it out of there!
