XiloáSubmitted by NicaNix on 1 May, 2006 - 09:58.
On one of my sightseeing flights, I snapped this pic of the Xiloá balneario. On a sunny day, and looking downward, the water actually seems emerald in color. ( categories: )

This sounds suspiciously similar to the Nicaraguan practice of the "indirecta" to hem/haw, beat around the bush, ask without asking, say it in every way but plain (Spanish) English :)
Guys, it sounds like fun, but it ain't gonna happen any time soon. Reason: I'm a VFR (visual flight rules) pilot, and thus, can't legally fly in the clouds. Alas, but the rainy season is nearly upon us, and with it copious quantities of clouds.
The peaks in that neck of the woods are around 5,000 ft. or so. Clouds this time of the year tend to hang out around 3,500 to 4,500 and have vertical growth up to 8 or 9,000 ft. at times. That doesn't add up to a very successful picture taking episode -- even if I managed to stay above the clouds, a whole lot wouldn't be seen, and if I stay under them ... well, you do the math!
A few months ago, John and I did a fun photo flight over his wife's town of Estelí. Even back then, we ran into a lot of clouds, and had to climb to 8,000 ft. to stay on top. We got lucky and found a "hole" to take pictures of Estelí ... but finding another "hole" to get back down near Managua was interesting. I wouldn't even think of trying that during the rainy season.
However, if some blue, cloudless sky just happend to show up ... hmmm, mighty tempting. Maybe next time!
OK
John, just for you!
You'll have to hurry, though. I return to the USA on furlough June 30th. Alas, we'll be stateside for around a year. Hope to catch you in Jacksonville at some point --- then swing down to Key West to visit Larry's FBO.
Replenish!
Every four or five years, I have to return to the US and revisit all of our sponsors for our mission here.
You can be sure I will be looking you up in Jax. I am scheduled to be in Florida May 15 - June 3 of 2007, which is pretty much on the tail end of my itenerary.
