Larry from Key West

NicaLiving does it again!

I was privileged to help make a Nica dream come true. Larry, a Nicaraguan-born flight instructor in Key West, had always wanted to go flying in Nicaragua, and during his visit to Nicaragua during Semana Santa, we were able to connect our schedules and go flying over Managua and the Pacific coast.

I had written about this earlier, but a computer glitch wiped out my story before it posted to the site, and I just got around to posting again!

Fortunately, Larry had all his pilot documents, and security was relatively laid back that day, so he was able to breeze into the hangar area with me, and thus save valuable time and hassle associated with the national flights terminal / security issues.

mi amigo

Larry and I are good friends who worked together at the eyw fbo (I - dispatch for the seaplane service). I'm glad he made it but frankly, a bit upset he didn't visit me!!! He probably knew I would ask him to bring me stuff!

I think Larry's nl name is "nicawings." I'll see him in Key West next week.

Marlies

NicaWings it is....

and it sounds like Larry is in big trouble with Marlies :(

I am hoping to take my wife and daughters for a day to Corn Island in June. Where would be the best place to stay? I was in Bluefields last week, and they're almost rioting over the fight for the electric generators! What is the electricity situation in the hotels? Do they shut down the lights and A/C at night?

bigcornisland.com

Electric (light) is 18 hours per day right now. You can see pics of all the hotels at www.bigcornisland.com

There are lots of options but it depends if you want "on the beach" "on the quiet side" etc. Tell me more and I'll recommend some hotels.

Flying with NicaNix

Hi NicaNix and NicaWings/Larry,

great that you could get another aviator airborne in Nicaragua! Good that you had the proper documentation (and shirt! :-) this time!

I hope he enjoyed both the flying and the country (I certainly did).
