The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
The buildings on the left use a different vanishing point than the buildings on the right. This makes them look smaller. The church uses a third vanishing point.
If the same theme was used in the vertical lines, it might look a little like the set of “ The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari”. The flick that gave birth to the German Expressionist movement in cinema.
Interesting, How old is this
Interesting, How old is this movie and who starred in it? Do you paint yourself?
The film was made in 1919
The film was made in 1919 and is a must see for film students. Don't know who was in it but I've read the acting was "over the top", and the visuals as "Chagall like". It's been about 30 years since I've seen it.

I do plein-air watercolors mostly of coastal agricultural life, and also oils. After seening your painting, I am more aware now that the perspective I use allows me to be in the painting I'm doing. Without it I'd be lost. ...Maybe I should try it.
Your figure painting reminds me of an artist I liked that I saw in Nicraagua... I think their name was Soles. Does that ring a bell? The Nica painted figure in general makes me think of maybe... Diego Divera. There are a couple of pieces of his in Leon.
Do you paint while in Nicaragua?
Thanks for the link. I was
Thanks for the link. I was wondering what is it that you saw in my painting that allows you to be you in your painting? and can i see what it is that you're doing? do you have a website? Mine is www.number1artist.com/gbolanos in case you havent seen it yet. I used to paint in nicaragua, i went to art school in managua and had the first art gallery in masaya. Now i reside and paint in houston. I dont beleive soles rings a bell, but Diego Rivera does.
perspective
I guess it must be the perspective. When I'm painting, my eye is like a wide angle lens, trying get the whole experience down. Birds fly by, or a guy drives by on a tractor, if it works, it will all be in the finished painting in one way or another. Sometimes my perspective is exagerated.
There are a few watercolors here: http://members.cruzio.com/~auji (Thanks for asking.) These were all done on 1/2 sheets of paper, 15" x 21". Sorry, it's not much of a website, with bad photography. Need to take better photos, add text and some bells and whistles.
Do you know of any good art supply stores in Nicaragua?
I checked out your site, the
I checked out your site, the paintings there are clean which is good for watercolor because it can get dirty quickly. Where in nic. do you live? On your profile it says santa cruz... Art stores in managua would be Libreria minerva in los robles i beleive and the other one, libreria apollo en centro comercial managua, both are good and both are expensive if you buy oils, but watercolor is rather affordable.
I live on the central
I live on the central California coast, between San Francisco and Santa Cruz. Plan to spent 1/2 the year in Nicaragua, possibly painting. Thank you for the art store suggestions. I'll bing paint and brushes, but will buy canvas there.
Where in Nicaragua do you
Where in Nicaragua do you reside? or will you reside?
Wish I knew where.
I tend to like the more remote areas. Think I've narrowed it down to the Rio San Juan or up the river from Rama... but then I haven't even explored the Atlantic coast yet.
Same goes for me, I have yet
Same goes for me, I have yet to go the atlantic coast like bluefields and corn island which is where i'd like to go next time i go to nicaragua which will be during xmas. What did u think of my site? Would you happen to know of any art collectors by any chance?
