US urges Nicaragua to shun Ortega

0

lol, the old "don't vote for Daniel" line is taken in this article from the BBC.

this is the part I find interesting (in reference to the US trying to force the PLC and Montealegre to play nice together) ". . . correspondents say the US policy could backfire and boost support for the Sandinistas."

Ambassador Trivelli can't support the PLC candidate, he can't support the Sandinista candidate, and has to choose between two people who, if either one wins, won't have the support of an established political party. Should be interesting come November.

You May Have Your Assets Taken

My opinion.

Nicaragua is a big scam. The supposedly pleasant culture is only pleasant as long as you are paying them. The work ethic is a stealing ethic.

And if they have their way, the politicians will make it an even bigger scam, taking more of your property, whether you are a US citizen or just a non-party-line Nicaraguan.

Trivelli is doing what is best for Americans and for Nicaraguans, trying to support a genuine economy and politics that are not a scam. Those of you who don't appreciate his work nevertheless benefit from it.

Peter

You Are

You are just a big pussy, when the going got tough, you couldn't hack it with the big dogs and you ran up on the porch. You had a little fantasy about Utopia and it didn't work out for "Poor You" as you saw fit. The big bad world beat you up. Run home to mama ya big douche bag, hide under your bed. It's people like you, that give humanitarian work a bad name. You make it harder for people willing to hang in for the long haul. You should get a job at disney land.

I've been wanting to tell you that for a long time. I certainly hope people are over feeling sorry for poor friggin you!

Hopefully, you will someday get your head out of your butt and really do something that's meaningful with your life. You might someday realize that when you undertake something like this, it's not about you at all.

You had the right idea and for one major wrong reason.

humanitarian work

Hello Pete,

When did I ever associate myself with "humanitarian work"? Hence, how could I give it a bad name?

I think the guys who were pussies were the two men who showed up at night and started carving me up with machetes while all I had was a spoon. More manly would've been showing up and challenging me like men.

I don't think that me buying a 350-acre farm in a dangerous part of Nicaragua and running it single-handledly is pussy material. Especially living there unguarded. Overly brave, more accurate.

How about you come by my house in Nandaime. I've got three machetes. I will give you two of them, and I will take the other. You pick who gets which. After this, I will attack you with one machete while you defend yourself with two. After this, I will throw your parts into the sumidero. If you don't know what a sumidero is, it's an outhouse pit.

Or if you prefer, give me some other way to test whether I am a pussy or not.

Peter

p.s. Could you direct me please to your accomplishments, URLs and directions to see them in person would be fine.

Simple

You realize you explain your predicament in your own post, right?

You buy a huge farm in what you call a dangerous part of Nicaragua, and then you walk around alone, at night, in the dark, with not even a guard on the property, and believe that Nicaragua is a scam because you got sliced up by two guys. There is a difference between bravery and naive trust to the point at which you're simply inviting someone to take advantage of you.

For an example, let's say I bought a house in East LA in a latino neighborhood known as "dangerous" by people in the area. Then I go walking around alone at night by myself in a poorly lit area. I'd be lucky to only get cut up with a machete. You don't have to be Mother Theresa with piles of accomplishments to be able to point that out to you.

Your experience to me sounds like you're the kind of person that would place 10,000 dollars on a table in the middle of a party all of your friends were going to, and then proclaiming loss of trust in all of them because the stack mysteriously vanishes in the course of the party.

You Prove My Point

It really is all about you, isn't it. Im sorry anyone felt bad for you. Your narcissistic personality is really coming through in this post.

It's kind of funny, calling me out to a duel.

If Nicaragua is such a scam, why do you bother anymore, go home little boy.

Oh,

"Abundance Farm
Center for Ecology and Humanity
Carazo, Nicaragua" - From your scam of a website.

Humanity might make someone think its "Humanitarian" but your right, I must have been wrong.

Yes, I Am Right and You Are Wrong

Humanity is very different from Humanitarian. If you care, we can start a new forum on that. Peter

Your Right

"Humanity might make someone think its "Humanitarian" but your right, I must have been wrong." Like I said above.

Pete vs Pete

I think this would make for a good Nicaliving.com outing. We can watch you both duel it out with weapons or without. While we all pass the bottle of FDC around and laugh. As long as no fingers or left nuts land in my drink it will be fun.

PeterChristopher, I just read your letter that you posted on one of your many sites. So your going to buy your girlfriends family a plot of land to build a motel 69 on, huh? haha. So is this girl just for the time your in Nicaragua. Are you getting rid of her when you take off to Panama or elsewhere?

Speaking of

speaking of his girlfriend, she appears to be 15 maybe 16?

Well...

Nobody really knows how old Aracely is, but she seems to be a minor still.

reminds me of a soccer party

It kind of reminds me of this big soccer party I went to in Panama. Everyone was having an awesome time.

the kids were kicking a pinatas butt. The adults were drinking and having a good ol' time.

Then this crazy drunk campesino guy had 2 machetes(1 in each hand on small cords) he started doing a windmill thing and charged the entire crowd (we were on the soccer field).

We all grabbed the kids and took off quickly. This guy gets half way down the soccer field and one of the blades smacks the side of his head and knocks himself out. It must have been the side of the blade cause there was no blood

Very scary but when it was all done, it had to be the funniest thing I have seen in a long time.

Must be....

Manuel Noriega hitting his desk in defiaciance to uncle Bush and landing in a Miami jail. LOL

ROTFLMA

JAjaja You are a nut man, eventhou Pete looks kind of tough hammering away at that wall on his Profile lol. I must admit It would be nice to see a 3 freaking machete fight lol.

Sorry that someone attacked you Pete, just when you had cried earlier, promesing not to be a mean SOB anymore lol.

keep up the humor man, this gets feaking dead at times.

Thanks

You could have at least offered me some FDC before I went to Duel with Peter MCSociopath. You know what it's going to be like for me getting chopped up and thrown in a shitter. I hope some of my buds around here will at least come and cheer for me. I hope to spill a little blood, after all he's giving me two machetes of my choice!

Oh and it's not Peter vs. Peter his real name isnt Peter Christopher anyway, its Chris Kawecki.

YA

Now were starting to party! Hey John, you know how your always talking about buying Contra Coffee? Well now I got a better place,

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/peterchristopher-news/message/25

Buy a pound of coffee from Peter McSociopath when you come to the machete fight!

I can't believe Im going to a knife fight with Barney Fife!

Hey Pete

You can always borrow my sling shot!!!

or Smithty? Hueso???

lol

Lighten up!

Pete,

Lighten up! This man was assalted in his home and watched his dream turn into shit because of ripp off oriented locals. You speak of being tougher? ..christ the man was attached and hacked by a machete in his home and had a considerable investment in his property.

What is your suggestion? that we are all supposed to be robbed, assalted, ripped off and if you decide you had enough your a pussy?

If you have some personal beef with him you could communicate it in a private mail.

I dont know Peter or you but I do know that there are a lot of thives and ripp off artists in Nicaragua and everywhere and I can understand in his situation why he deicded to bail out( he is exercising his freedom of choice)...many times people that have somthing really bad happen at a property dont want to be reminded of the bad stuff by being there so they move on.

You may be correct in that perhaps Nicaragua is a much "tougher" country than the idealic visions of this website..perhaps you can help shed light on the realities of the challenges and realities of living here (the "tough" part).

If you care to elaborate on your specific reasons for your opinions about his decisions perhaps we all could understand the tone of your comments

Well, I do know Peter ...

I have been talking to Peter since before he decided to try Utopia in Nicaragua--his previous plan was Panama. So, if anything, it is my fault he ended up in Nicaragua--not that I think there would have been a different outcome in Panama.

But, the one thing I want to actually add here is something Peter's father told me. I am sure he has said this to Peter too. It helped me understand a lot of Peter's reactions to various things.

His father said, "for Peter everything is black or white". Now, for any of us who have lived in Central America for any time, I think we all have learned that while in the U.S., lots of things are not black or white, here, almost nothing is black or white.

To me, that offers opportunity. But it also means you need to adjust how you live to this "system". If you don't, you are not going to fit in.

"Lighten up!"

"Lighten up!"

No.

"This man was assalted in his home and watched his dream turn into shit because of ripp off oriented locals. You speak of being tougher? ..christ the man was attached and hacked by a machete in his home and had a considerable investment in his property."

No, he was ripped off and watched his dream turn to crap because he didn't listen to other people. He did it his way for his own reasons, it was all about poor Peter Christopher. Look at his post here, "Nicaragua is a big scam.", is this a man for whom I should feel sorry , and for the reasons you give? He is just having his little pity party. Boo Hoo.

"What is your suggestion? that we are all supposed to be robbed, assalted, ripped off and if you decide you had enough your a pussy?"

I fail to see where I suggest this, quit reading between the lines and trying to find something that isn't there.

"If you have some personal beef with him you could communicate it in a private mail."

I could, but in this particular case, Peter has enough people stroking his wounded ego publicly and I felt it my civic duty to kick him in the arse. Who knows, maybe he will read this and in a few years look back, pull up his pants and do it the correct way and for the right reasons. What about the people who worked his farm? What happened to the dream he painted for them? Where are they now, or were they just part of the "Big Nicaraguan Scam"? What kind of example did he set for the people who looked up to him?

"I dont know Peter or you but I do know that there are a lot of thives and ripp off artists in Nicaragua and everywhere and I can understand in his situation why he deicded to bail out( he is exercising his freedom of choice)...many times people that have somthing really bad happen at a property dont want to be reminded of the bad stuff by being there so they move on."

Yes, and I'm exercising my freedom of speech in telling him I think he is a HUGE PUSSY, it was all about poor Peter. Find me once where he mentions concern for anyone but himself in closing down the farm, feeling bad for those he is leaving behind. When do the people of Nicaragua get to move on? Making a commitment like this doesn't include, "Well I'll just take my toys and go home" or it wasn't worth crap in the first place. It was just Peter's little hobby farm, feel good, grow weed and play the guitar while people sang his praises.

"You may be correct in that perhaps Nicaragua is a much "tougher" country than the idealic visions of this website..perhaps you can help shed light on the realities of the challenges and realities of living here (the "tough" part)."

I don't think any reasonable man or woman on this site has an idealic vision of Nicaragua, that's exactly what Peter had and it came back to bite him. I didn't get angry until he started this pity party bull crap, "Nicaragua is a Scam". We have been reading about Peter crying in his Wheaties for six months now. What am I supposed to say, "oh poor Peter, he had a rough time, things didn't work out. Screw those people who followed you, listened to you strum your guitar, danced to your gringo ways".

"If you care to elaborate on your specific reasons for your opinions about his decisions perhaps we all could understand the tone of your comments"

Did someone have a private meeting and elect you to represent "We" or perhaps Peter called you on the phone crying and asked you to respond to me? If you have have a question for me, don't hide behind "We" if in fact it's only you asking.

My tone, make no mistakes, it's nasty and pointed. Cry-baby's piss me off. I can feel bad for a guy just so long but when he comes out insulting an entire people, screw him. "Nicaragua is a scam", no Peter Christopher is a scam. He is his own monster, he fooled himself into believing his own crap and his panties are in a knot now because it backfired in his face. It's like repeatedly kicking a dog and putting it down after it bites you.

"The supposedly pleasant culture is only pleasant as long as you are paying them. The work ethic is a stealing ethic." - Quote from Peter's post above

He calls every Nicaraguan a thief. Everyone is lumped into his experience and that hacks me off, especially with all of the words of support he receives. Now he turns around and pisses on the people of Nicaragua, folks I care very much about.

Grow up Peter, it's a big world and you cant just turn around and crap on everyone when things don't go your way, even after finding out Utopia doesn't exist. In regards to your post in this forum (Peter), no one cares about your opinion anymore, now we know it's all about you. You have no credibility here.

MarkWayne, No I wont lighten up unless you can come up with better reasons then you have already presented.

My Lack of Understanding

Peter found the right spot to create Shangri-La; but, Peter failed to change the Latin culture to agree with him.

From "PeterChristopher's" yahoo site.

In short, I have failed to change the Latin culture to be more agreeable to me.

The last week I have spent many days at the farm, getting to know people and land, digging after leaf-cutter ants, and swinging my machete.

I found it.

Trivelli has very little to do with stopping . . .

or doing anything in the way of property confiscation. If Nicaragua were to start doing things that they did in the FSLN days, they would be off of the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) debt relief initiative in a heartbeat and would then be in deep doo-doo with the IMF, slammed by the return of hundreds of millions of debt that they currently don't have to pay back.

Talk to the Sandinista mayor of SJDS and see if he wants to start confiscating properties. He would probably tell you that he has has his business interests and it would be folly to even think of doing what they used to do back in the 80's.

I agree with Blarg that it might be best for the US to support Herty because that would almost certainly kill off Ortega's ambitions for good, and Lewites is a neo-liberal, not a revolutionary socialist/thug like Ortega seems to be. But, such imagination and forethought is not really the strong suit of the current administration, IMHO.

Doors of hope fly open when doors of promise shut. -Thomas D'Arcy McGee

Nicaragua is going to be a warzone again

My prediction.

Ortega is going to win. Why? Because Nicaraguan people love drama more than progress. And he knows it and knows how to play it.

This time, Nicaragua will be the warzone between Venezuela and the US. I will still have my favorite Nicaraguan asset, cute girlfriends. But what I won't retain is a significant financial asset. If you are smart, you will liquidate as soon as you can. Your property values will be ten cents on the dollar.

If you actually have spent any time in Nicaragua, the Sandinistas have already stolen from you. If you haven't figured this out yet, you are in for even more losses. Everybody steals, but the Sandinistas are absolutely without morals. The liberals look you in the face and say "Pay me a bribe and I will do such-and-such a thing." The Sandinistas never say that a bribe is involved; their methods are much more subtle.

No property confiscation in SJDS??? The whole coastline was confiscated, if you don't know this, talk to a different lawyer; the one you talked to will have title to your property in two years, mark my words.

Those who don't like what I say, that is fine. I wish someone had told me the truth before I bought here. I am fine that Fyl talked me into coming and staying. I learned a lot, got ALL my money back including the food expenses and learning experiences. But most of you who have bought here won't be able to.

Peter

Lovely jubbly

who the hell died and left you in charge? I have met and spoken with Daniel and helped reorganise his bodyguards...(if you want assasinate him they're still rubbish LOL)He is not stupid and will soon be trying to crawl up Bush's arse the same as the rest of the 'free' world. He puts on a big act of animosity towards uncle sam but it won't last once he's in power.....i appreciate your opinion....this is mine

My Prediction

Someone tries to hack you up in Panama because they won't be able to stand you there either.

You Got Your Money Back

Miskito Alan &#174

What happened to the people that you you promised the shares?

They get money?

2 Candidates?

We have more than 2 candidates for president here. Why can't Trivelli support Herty? :-) I see Herty as dooming Ortega far more than the existance of a PLC candidate. If they really are only anti-Ortega then the choice is clear for who to stand behind to screw him over the best.

Anyway, democracy is letting the people chose their own government. I think the US's best position is to simply say they support the process no matter who wins, but that's already not what's happening.

It is said that the United

It is said that the United States does not have long-term "friends" or "enemies" in the traditional sense of the word. They only have their "interests."

La Prensa is right

La Prensa took US Ambassador Trivelli to task today for his comments, quoting Martyr Editor Pedro Joaquin Chamorro as saying in 1975 that "we don't need the Yankees to tell us the truth" about Nicaragua. The editorial goes on to point out that the US is selective in objecting to tyranny (i.e., it does so when it serves our interests) and that critics of the US on the Nica left are similarly hypocritical inasmuch as they welcome Cuban and Venezualan interference in Nica affairs.

To my untutored eye, it looks like La Prensa has it exactly right. Ortega and Aleman embody the caudillo system, with its cult of personality and indulgence of corruption. But it's up to the Nicaraguans, not us (the US), to decide who's good for the country. Indeed, for us to argue against Ortega and Aleman is to presume the Nicaraguans are too dumb to figure things out for themselves.

Our policy of openly commenting on Aleman and Ortega also would seem politically stupid. Those Nicas who agree with us regarding the pacto aren't going to become more enthusiastic just because the US agrees with them, while there will be a natural tendency of others to rebel against US involvement. In other words, we shouldn't provide an excuse for Ortega and Aleman's minions and their ilk to accuse their worthier opponents of being US lapdogs.

we use to tell the Yankees - if you want everybody to do it like they do it up "North" - Move the hell back there.

Rumsfeld will help

I heard on the news he will be in October. I am sure the trip will be to help "promote democracy" in the November election.

My Hope!

Miskito Alan &#174

My hope is that when Rumsfeld comes ¨to promote democracy¨that he does not bring all those military troops as was done for the ¨promotion of democracy¨ in Iraq and the upcoming same action in Iran.

As ¨GWB¨ said ¨the only neutral country¨ in the world is Sweden.

at last . . .

some good news in the press.

Just a thought

The Us government is paranoid and needs to spread fear in order to feel as if they are doing something . Lets help them out us the poll section of this site to see how many people actually support Ortega then send the results to the AP news wire! I have been here for almost one month and everytime the person (NICA) i am speaking with would vote for someone other than Daniel including Donald duck. Why it is even an issue is beyond me i think some reporter is bored and to lazy to walk on the street and ask other people their opinions. One conversation did give Ortega a prop a friend said Ortega gave the Nicaraguan people reading skills true or not it was the only positive thing i have heard about him. As Nicas are fond of saying don`t worry be happy
