The Development of San Juan del SurSubmitted by Kelly Ann Thomas on 12 April, 2006 - 01:08.
![]() Seems like every week another house is popping up. I took my first boat trip along the coast this past weekened and I couldn't beleive the number of lots (and giant retaining walls) spread across the seashore. Not as many houses going up, and I am thinking that many of the purchasers are just trying to flip the property. Some prices here exceed the cost of land and a home on the Gulf Coast of Florida. The Gulf Coast offers gorgeous white sand beaches, a nuch longer swim season, and the benefits of an infrastructure. People say SJDS is the next Costa Rica (investment wise), but it's already almost priced like Costa Rica. Still people come in desperate to buy. Some are even quaking in fear that they have missed out and throw random numbers around. Several people have asked me how much I paid for my building. I rent. They want to know what the landlord is selling it for. I tell them it is not for sale, hence the reason I rent. What would she ask for it? Again, I say it's not for sale and that I have a long lease. Well what do you think she'd want for it? I want to bitch slap these people. Where in the hell did their brain disappear to? Do they think I want my landlord to sell so he can raise my rent or worse, I lose my location while he can build some ugly ass condos on my store? I jnow I am a hypocrite because I make my living from all the new residents and visitors. Still, I don't want the town to expand much more. I especially don't want to see the mountains torn up.
