Book Review:The Art of Natural BuildingSubmitted by fyl on 9 April, 2006 - 08:53.
![]() This book combines enough history, theory and practical information along with some nice photos to give you some great ideas about alternative construction techniques. While this book was clearly written for a U.S. audience, there are lots of ideas that seem applicable to Nicaragua. They include some foundation alternatives such as rubble, earthen and tamped rode base floors and actual buildings of adobe and other earth-based blocks, bamboo, straw bale, cordwood and cob. The book is a pleasure to read but, beyond that, it is very thought-provoking. ( categories: )
