Hidden treasure???

Whilst in Granada looking at old colonials, I stumbled across this vintage Pleyel grand piano. Turns out it is from the early 1900s and the original owner (a member of the Pellas family) brought it back to Granada in 1913. The piano is in great shape -- absolutely beautiful and in playable condition!!

Makes me wonder what other "hidden treasures" there are to be found hanging out behind the colonial façades in Granada...

Bluefields Too

Many of the older houses from the older familes contain many pieces of antique furniture in Bluefields.

From the mid-1800s to the 1930s; most all trading was done with England and/or the USA (America) and that is reason for so many beautiful antique pieces in that city.

The bananas, wood, and other things were shipped out and furniture and virtually everything else was shipped into the city.

hmmm

Antique-hunting tours... could the blue-haired crowd handle the Bluefields scene???

Do they wish to sell it?

Incredible, that was the piano brand Chopin played on. The only problem with piano's in NIcaragua is that no one know how to tune them. I this piano in a private house?

Tune

This is not true. I moved to Managua 6 monts ago with a Piano Pleyel . I found someone who tuned it perfectly for 50 dollars. I still have the tel number if you wish.

Yeses

Yes it is for sale (waaay over priced) and yes it is in a private home and yes it plays very well tho I am sure it is out of tune.

The problem, as I understand it, is that there is no one here to appraise it so it will probably just gather dust until it is gone...

How much do they ask for?

How much do they ask for?

Are you sitting down?

$20k -- in [evil] US dollars, NOT pesos...

I have an old friend that deals in antique music pieces in Snotsdale -- best he has EVER seen a Pleyel go for at auction (not eBay, think Sotheby's) was $12k and it was completely refurbed and in pristine condition...

If you're interested, I'll gladly play go between for a fee (one very cold Tona)!! ;~)

Kidding..It's cheaper to buy

Kidding..It's cheaper to buy one with warranty in France and to ship it!! Thank you anyway.

Huh?

How would I know?? Do they sell Tona on eBay?? ;~)
