Dentist

Does anybody know the name of a reputable yet reasonably priced dentist (bonding) in Managua? We have been told dentistry is less expensive there and thought we might have a little fun at the dentist during our vacation. Thanks.

Dr. Roger Blandon
255-0646 or 255-0573. He's not the cheapest, but very good. He's a "Postgrado en rehabilitacion Oral Monterrey- Mexico, One of the best schools in Central America. His office is in a new building and his partner speaks english if you need translation. You'd think you were in the states. I'd say about half the price as the states. Of course, we can refer you to a real cheap dentist, $80 per crown, $15 for teath cleaning. But, it's a crap shoot.
In Managua
Was speaking with a Nica yesterday who lives in Miami and came here just for dentistry. She had a root canal, two crowns and 4 replacement caps. Bill was under $1000. Said he was the best dentist she had ever experienced in her 75 years. Not one ounce of pain. Almost made me want to make my 5 year visit to the torture chamber.
I'll get the name for you -- its Sonrisa Brillantes or something like that but I'll verify!

I wouldn't recommend sex, drugs or insanity for everyone, but they've always worked for me. HST
dentist
Dr. Mario Roeder is in Managua. He is wonderful. I know him through his nephew who works for my brother-in-law.
My cousin in Esteli, Dr.
My cousin in Esteli, Dr. Alberto Zeledon Rodriguez, is a good Dentist and in his clinic, close to Parque Central, you can also find 3 other Dentist (specialists) Tel: + 505 713 2776 Cell: +505 864 4801
He speaks English..
I just went
I went to the Dentist on Thursday, (in the states). I had a cleaning, my co-pay was $320 ($80 was my 20% for the cleaning + some medications). Plus they will charge my insurance at least $500.
still shocked!
They caught me off guard, by diagnosing me w/ a serious issue. It turns out that the medicine the Dentist in LA said I needed was something like bleach; it took the dentist about 1 minute to apply it. (It was not covered by the insurance, yes I paid $240 for that!). Had I known, I would have saved my money for a plane ticket to Nicaragua. I got a second opinion after the fact from a Dentista Nicaraguense and he said me teeth were fine and did not need what the first Dentist said I needed. Oh well.
Bonding
Actually, I would expect Managua to be the most expensive place in Nicaragua for dentistry.
My experience in Esteli with bonding was one tooth. I went in the day before (no appointment) and paid, as I remember, C$300 for cleaning, one X-ray and possibly something else. (I think this is in my blog.)
Returned the next day for the bonding which cost C$350. I am guessing he is the most expensive dentist in Esteli. Office next door to a bank, has a fish tank, ... I picked him because he had previously conversed with my dog.
