Hi NL members, I have enjoyed reading some of the many post on this thread. I have a question about land or house purchase in Nicaragua. How long does it take to acquire property in Nic? Tia Nicarbound ( categories: )

buying land
i replied earlier but i guess i left it around somewhere and someone stole it...
anyway, i've been waiting 7+ years for my land purchase to be finalised and while i've almost given up a couple of times, i still have faith that it will happen. some of the reason it took so long was my fault, some was the fault of others. i've seen some land deals go very smoothly, while mine has sat in some lawyer's office, or the catastro's office, or the registry's office, or someplace, quien sabe? i just hope your land deal, if and when you make it, will go quickly. i think i just got super lucky. mananaaaaaah.

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated it. I still would like to take trip down to Nic in the near future.

I'm in the process of acquiring a property in Nic. now. This is the situation: The seller has agreed to sell, we (my wife and I) have agreed to buy for the offered price, money has been transfered from US to a Nica bank but on the day that the copy of the deed(escritura) from the registry was to be produced, a strike or slow down took place so my wife couldn't take it to the lawyer, make another deed, re-register, have the tax assesor (catastro) inspect, the surveyor survey, etc. so a power of attorney was given to my brother in law, to continue with the paperwork. I hope that won't take 7+ years to complete the transaction(I'll be dead by then). I also have to acknowledge that we allowed only five days to complete the transaction, that was unrealistic. Al

Thanks for the update. I hope if I do dicide to purchase, my deal would go thru smooth. 7 years is a long time, unless you're doing a lease-back or something of that mature. Blessings to you on your deal.
