Very Funny

Quite Strange: I lived in Corn Island for over 10 years and I never saw that truck; but, a there is a lot of junk laying around and I was too busy "watching the zinc rust" on the house tops and I never got around to the "looking at junk" hobby.

During the 1980s; Columbia never made one threatening gesture towards Nicaragua or Corn Island. San Andreas was the prime trading partner with Corn Island and Little Island. From the Corn Islands, the pangas would take the fresh lobster 1/2 way to San Andreas (40 miles) and the big Columbian boats would meet them with chicken, beer, rum, flour, sugar, and everything else that could not be obtained in Nicaragua. The trades were done and sometimes U$ were exchanged and that kept the Corn Islands alive.

Whoever told you this bull**** gave you bad information.

The "Sandinista" military had guns on Corn Island that were only used to fire at the USA "Blackbird" traveling at 40,000 feet and 1,600 miles per hour. What a waste of ammo.

about colombia threat......this story told me some local guy. also he told me that COMEDIANTE daniel dispatched there at this time some MIG HELICOPTERS....to protect the islands.......it's no important now... ONE THING CAN BE CONCLUDED FOR SURE....AT THIS TIME THERE WERE MORE PROTECTION(TROOPS) THEN AT PRESENT(POLICE FORCE) MARLIES IS RIGHT IT IS CLOSE TO THE POLICE STATION ALMOST IN FRONT OF DONA MARTHA PLACE

Jan - Sorry - Incorrect Location

&#9824 Miskito Alan:

"Jan" says: "MARLIES IS RIGHT IT IS CLOSE TO THE POLICE STATION"

"Marlies" says: "MA - You will find it "parked" next to the Capitania Headquarters, between Picnic Center and Martha's".

"Miskito Alan" says: "The Police Station is located around the corner from the "municipal wharf" and "Fisher's Cave Restaurant in the heart of "Brig Bay". Marlies says the Capitania Headquarters" which is the building for the military and the coast guard and not Police which is located past "Picnic Center" on "SouthwestBay".

Note: On those heavy cement pilings that one can see just before reaching the "Capitania" is where the "Corn Island Mansion" of Somoza was located until destroyed by "Hurricane Joan" in 1988.

Thanks for sharing the pics.

Thanks for sharing the pics. Did you fly your own plane or did the commercial flight have to "go around" in order to get that view?

MA - You will find it "parked" next to the Capitania Headquarters, between Picnic Center and Martha's. I just noticed it for the first time a couple of weeks ago but has obviously been there a while.

MY PLEASURE MARLIES

IT WAS A COMMERCIAL FLIGHT.....NO SPECIAL CONCESSIONS WERE DONE FOR ME.

The funny thing is....Look

The funny thing is....

Look at the photo again (for those of you who do not know Corn Island).

Tha shack located just behind the derelict piece of crap is is the headquarters for the Nicaraguan-Corn Island Coast Guard! I visit it often!

Errrrrr - I Think

&#9824 Miskito Alan:

I went there a few times myself when I was getting "zarpes" once a month for my boats.

I just never paid any attention to the junk truck or any of the other junk cars and trucks on Corn Island.

I tried to ignore them. The ex-military "Wass Jeeps" was all we had for taxis from 1991 to 1995 and those moving taxis were enough junk to keep me happy.

Zarps

You worked for Dr. Seuss? Were the Zarps related to the Reeps? Is it true that if your a Reep then your also a Snarf and that Snarfs are really Zarps? Are you really Sam I am?

Sorry - Wrong

My whole life has been spent "Exploring with Dora".

Dora

Dora the eager beaver, she was not too hard to please. Her adventures in Peru often found Dora on her knees.

I think you just ruined the innocence of Dora and Diego.
