we looked at a couple of properties recently . . .
Not that I'm in a real rush to buy anything mind you . . . but sometimes opportunities come your way and one should at least check it out, no?
We looked at a little house here in Bello Horizonte. I don't think I'd want to live there myself, but it might be a good rental property for someone (if you want to be a landlord that is).
Then a guy passes by, and long story short, we end up off of Carretera a Masaya km. 10.5 looking at a really nice semi-abandoned finca. This property has lots of potential. For one it is a great location near the ritzy areas of Managua, up in the hills so it is a little cooler, nice and rural. The property is at least 4.5 manzanas and full of fruit trees. The house was a pleasant surprise, well-constructed and lovely views. The far end of the long, but not too wide property is on a rise where there are great views towards Managua.
Other pictures are here, here, and here.
I will report back on whether I buy it or not. In due-diligence mode right now.

Property
Careful. If it sounds too good to be true, it may have a flawed deed in its history (confiscated at some time by the FSLN). Get an experienced, competent real estate lawyer on your side.
there's always a reason why . . .
they are selling for such a "precio de regalo" and one must always go into it looking for the scams and where the sellers think they are getting something over on the Gringo.
And yes when they deliver a copy of the escritura and the plano to me we'll have an attorney review it and verify it at the Catastro.
Unfortunately my R.E. atty is in Rivas so is no help here in Managua. If you work with someone you'd recommend, please inform!
