Map of Estelí

Good scan of a bad copy of a map. This map is what is available at the Alcaldia. The one I have seen is 11 x 17".

Editoralizing a bit, the map captures the spirit of directions in Nicaragua and Costa Rica for that matter. For example, while the bridge on the old highway is not show--it looks like the road falls into the river--that bridge has been there since 1936. On the other hand, while the Pan Am is shown crossing the river, that bridge was washed away during Hurricane Mitch. Also, the PetroNic gas station is shown as a Texaco. That's important as, for example, the "address" of the cable TV company is 2.5 blocks east of the Texaco. Confused by the other Texaco in the Pan Am. Don't be--that's not The Texaco, that's The Starmart.

Amazing place

We even have a Vegan restaurant. Pretty good for a cowboy town. :-)
