Thanksgiving at Ricardo's in SJDSSubmitted by Kelly Ann Thomas on 6 December, 2005 - 19:50.
![]() My beloved had the honor of carving five turkeys at Ricardo's on Thanksgiving Day. It was three days shy of a year since we first came to SJDS, and it seemed fitting that we spent the day hanging out with our new friends and celebrating our lives in Nicaragua with genuine Butterball turkeys from Price Smart in Managua. non-sober mangling of birds
I am so glad to see someone was sober on this special day. From what I was told I spent Thanksgiving on Tybee Island, Ga Starting fights with women who were larger than I (thanks to the slip in the drink) and being very, very sick the next morning. This is VERY unusual for me. I was also informed of the high entertainment aspect that was provided. I celebrated Thanksgiving for 3 days after recovering. Hail to the Cheif?
My Knife
Hey is that my knife you are carving with. My knife slipped out of my pocket one night in there, went back the next day to see if they happened to find it. I ask the bartender up front and she says yeah we found it after I described it to her in detail. She goes to get it from the Kitchen and she says the Cook says we didnt find it. That bastard.
Have knives, will travel
Sorry, we brought our own carving knives, which is how Rob managed to get suckered into Turkey carving duty. Evidently the way to avoid mangling the birds involves a hint of sobriety, and not many people are willing to make that kind of committment. The bookstore was open earlier in the day, so we were not overly inebriated like some of the other guests.
My role that day was to ensure that I didn't have to eat the dried out turkey (a la Christmas Vacation), and that there was a sufficient portion of mashed potatoes and gravy and pumpkin pie on my plates. I couldn't take any chances, so I made sure I was one of the first people in both the dinner and dessert lines. Fortuantely, this didn't require sobriety, so I was able to drink beer while standing in line for the food.
Que Paso?
Miskito Alan says that his invitation must have been lost in the mail.
I wish that I had been there on Thanksgiving Day eating your turkey.
For lunch, I had a can of "Hormel's Chili w/Beans" - no meat.
For dinner, I had "Snook", turnip greens, sweet potatoes, and cranberry sauce.
