Airplane Graveyard ?Submitted by cjtowerman on 4 December, 2005 - 21:31.
I gave up on a topic category for this, because it did not seem to fit anywhere; I chose "infrastructure" for the lack of anything more obvious. A friend heard of a large "airplane graveyard" (salvage yard, for parts, filled with old(er) planes for scrap, etc...) in Nicaragua. He does not knew where it is, nor do I. Does anyone know of such a thing, war-related or not? He does NOT actually need the parts, but would like to photograph it. Any info appreciated. Also, anyone familiar with a rural bus ride from Southern Honduras to Northeastern Nicaragua which passes through a small town with an abandoned airstrip, academy, and planes? If so, please describe the area and/or route to get to this. Again, any feedback appreciated. ( categories: )

Esteli had a large airstrip during the war, it is now overgrown with large homes.
