Liberia to Granada by Nature Air

Has anyone done the San Jose to Granada route by Nature Air? It might be the closest thing to a direct flight for us from Toronto. Might be nice for those times you have to leave Nica for 72 hours. I'm not crazy about small planes flying over big lakes and immense jungles but the view'd be spectacular.

SJO to Granada
We took that route in August and it was very convenient. The flight leaves a little early from SJO and you can only take 25lbs of luggage on the plane. Great scenery, quick flight, free transportation into Granada. Much nicer than arriving in Managua. Customs is a little bit of a drag as someone previously mentioned. That's the only downside I can see.
When I First Checked "Nature Air"
on "yahoo" & "Goggle", the search-engines kept referring me to those places where people take their clothes off on the beach (Go Nude) such as "Haulover Beach" in Miami & St. Martinique and the next place where the French & Dutch split their island in half (St. Martain) which by the way was named after "Marty" who is "padredealyson" on this website.
Who knows?

Not bad...
I did it this summer. Flights are only twice a week, Sundays and Thursdays maybe? But it's pretty painless. The plane isn't that small, and it is a beautiful flight. The only 'negative' is that leaving Granada, they very meticulously hand-search each passenger's bags in lieu of any security equipment. I just had a half-empty bag, so it was quick, but there was a Dutch couple ahead of me who'd bought a number of ceramic objects, each individually wrapped. And carefully unwrapped. And then re-wrapped. So just be prepared.
If you have to stay over in CR, stay in Alajuela. No need to go into downtown San Jose if you can avoid it!
"Nature Air" Current Schedule
Miskito Alan says that "Nature Air" flies to Granada from SJO and Liberia (Costa Rico or Africa?) on the current schedule of Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday.

"TMIJ" Had a Plane
that was going to fly down a non-existent road from "Kukra Hill" to "El Bluff"; but, that route was over water and the whole idea went underwater and the same route for the bus idea went underwater.
You mention the lakes and jungle; but, don't forget the mountains from SJO to Granada and that is an interesting experience.
If you are dead set on "Gringo Rica", check flying into Liberia. Thats Liberia, Costa Gringo Rico, and not Liberia, Africa, as I previously thought about the towns.
Also, charter flights are available from Montreal in the "snowbird" season to Managua for the tourists going to Montelimar or wherever they are going in Nicaragua and those are cheap flights.
If you fly into Granada, please watch out for "NicaNix" because he may be taking a ride way up in the air on that "canopy tour".
Well - Those thoughts are about it - for me.

Liberia - right!
NicaNix says he's thrilled that Miskito Alan finally figured out the difference between Liberia, Costa Rica and Liberia, Africa, because he was sleepless many a night pondering how NicaNix could fly a Cessna 150 nonstop from Managua to Liberia.
It is a lovely trip, and the view of San Juan del Sur from the air is as beautiful, if not moreso, than on the ground.
NicaNix says he has visited the Granada "Nature Air" airport by land, and the folks there aren't all that friendly unless you're a paying customer, and he has flown over it in the air many times ... but never landed there in an airplane.
What with the news of the cable breaking at the Canopy Tour in El Crucero, resulting in the death of a guide and the injury of two students, NicaNix is having second thoughts regarding flying through the air in anything other than the airplane he rents.
Now Steve - Never Landed
in Liberia in an airplane. If not an airplane, what did you land in - in Liberia. This is getting very confusing.
I also told you before to not take those monkey-jungle canopy-rides which are absolutely crazy.
If I wanted to experience that canopy trip, I would send my wife and watch her do the ride; but, papa, not me.

Hey, Goofus...
Can't you read? NicaNix said he had never landed at Granada's private little airport, only visited it by land and flown over it in my airplane. He most certainly did fly to and land at Liberia, Costa Rica.
1st Capt. Steve - Mind Elsewhere
I was re-examining the African/Costa Rica (Liberia) locations and I did not have much time to consider the Granada locations of Andalucia/Nicaragua. My mind was elsewhere.
I will assume that the airport that you did not land in an airplane was Granada/Nicaragua and I will also assume that you also did not land in an airplane in Granada/Andalucia.
Since you were recently in Europe; I could be wrong about Andalucia.
I think that some jealousy has been exhibited because of my previous ownership of my "Flying Land Rover". (grin)

Yep!
I'm jealous of your "Flying Land Rover", even though I've never seen it, nor have any idea what it is. It just sounds cool. Can you post a picture of it?
You are correct in assuming that I did not land in either Granada (Nica or España)in an airplane.
I have visited Granada, Andalucía, but it was by bus, and was thirty-five years ago when NicaNix was an exchange student.
An Excerpt from "Land Rover"
Excerpt from http://www.nicaliving.com/node/1446
Back to "Land Rover": The airport in Corn Island is now fenced and guarded and nobody can do this type thing anymore. At the time of this incident, no paved roads existed in Corn Island except for the runway on the airport. I was driving and "Mexican" was with me at midnight. We wanted to see if the "Land Rover" might fly with the 80hp. I started at the southwest end of the runway and got almost to the north end and a big explosion took place. I blew out the rear-end and everything stopped because I was in two-wheel drive. So, we laughed and laughed and I said that we had no problem and I switched to four-wheel drive and we went to the next bar room. I still think that if the rear-end had held together; we could could have flown because I was doing about 90 mph.
Naw - I Checked
Miskito Alan says that 35 years ago when "1st Capt. Steve" was a student; "Tica Bus" was only concentrating on their "premiere route" of "Kukra Hill" to "El Bluff" in Nicaragua.
The "Toronto" to "Andalucia" route of "Tica Bus" commenced in 1988. :-)
LNYHBT - TMIJ
Miskito Alan says "please do not let your heart be troubled".
That "Land Rover" can fly.

We did Montreal to Montelimar
with the Quebecers on Air Transat but it is only from Dec through March. We'll be needing a lift in Octobers. And there's always that 72 hour exodus periodically.
Rob - One Day
Miskito Alan says that one day; you will understand about this "24 hour Exodus".
Did you check flying to Liberia, Costa Rica?
________________________________________________________
Yes I did MA
It is a little cheaper and a little shorter. Air Canada flies direct to San Jose from Toronto which appeals to me. Buffalo/Miami/Managua is a 10hr day. : (
Tica Bus is better
Everyday routes, about $10 a person vs 120 a person. Nature Air stops in Liberia, while the flight is not bad,I do notmind sitting for a few more hours, and save 110 dollars. The flights are not everyday so may need to spend a day in a hotel, which adds a bit to your cost. There are other bus line that leave around 4:30 pm from San Jose as well so you may catch one of these be in Granada the same day you get to CR.
Thats a Great Deal - Sheriff
Miskito Alan say "U$10 from Toronto to Managua on Tica-Bus".
Not bad.
