Cigars

I am going back to the states in mid may for my wedding and i want to bring back a bunch of cigars for it. I dont know much about cigars so any recommendations on Where to go and What type of nica cigars to get would be greatly appreciated. I will probably buy about 40 decent cigars and 10 nicer ones for the groomsmen, my dad, brothers, father of the bride, etc. I usually make my trips into Rivas or Managua for bulk shopping once a month so any info on where to go in those cities would be great. or is the duty free shop in the airport a good place/prices?

ps.. my father in law's side of the family are originally from cuba and like their cigars. so i dont want to bring back crap.

thanks for your help

The duty free shops and

The duty free shops and kiosks at the airport are your best bet. Nicaragua is a free trade zone (which means 100% of production must be exported) so you can't buy any (good) cigars locally outside of the airport. You can buy Drew Estate's and Joya de Nicaragua's in the lobby of Hotel Puro Esteli (owned by a Drew Estate bigwig) but you will pay American prices there so there is no point going there. The best cigars that you can get at the airport (in my professional opinon) are Padron (they have a kiosk), San Lotano (they sell them at the restaurant next to gate 2) and Joya de Nicaragua (which can be bought at the "big" duty free shop with a walk-in humidor). If you have any other questions, let me know.

hmm yea just started

hmm yea just started researching and i read they ship most out of the country, and then there are alot of fakes. Ive gotten some Joya's from the big duty free shop. but was hoping to get a 5 pack of the Padrons anniversary serie. will also check out Oliva and San Lotano.

i think ive been to that shop in san juan before...as you get into town its on the right hand side? next time i head into rivas i will have to head into san juan. they are legit?

Funny Story

Last year my friends Margareta and Luc came to visit us in Tacoma (they live in Nica) being proper guest they brought my son a box of cigars as a gift. On further inspection the cigars were Cuban! Luc is from Canada...I guess no one bothered to check the bags.

Drew Estates or any thing Padron family.
