Latin American communities fight GMO

A bit of regional news on Monsanto vs. Latin America. This Activist Post article tells us a bit about what is happening here. It includes some specific information on what is currently happening in Costa Rica.

In small Latin American countries, such as Guatemala, Costa Rica and Nicaragua, most farmers do not know the pros and cons of using genetically-modified organisms (GMOs). Many do not even know what GMO means. But Monsanto is changing all of this with an aggressive strategy to expand internationally, threatening many varieties of natural corn seed available throughout this region.

GMO's

Nicaragua needs a good education in GMO's and how it has effected farmers all over the world for it can make informed decisions for themselves. India's rural farmers would be close in methods and incomes of rural Nicaraguan farmers. In India when the seed supplies starting swapping out heirloom seeds that reproduce after each harvest for one's that Monsanto got the seed suppliers to push, many in the end, lost their farms, as seeds, had to also have the water at the specific times or rot and will not produce, so farmers borrow more money, to by more seeds, have to buy more chemicals, etc and in the end loose the farm and end up drinking Roundup putting an end to all of it. Author Anderson Monsanto's consulting firm has stated that they believe Monsanto should have world food domination within 5 years! Only if we let them. You can eat their crap if you please, but I don't want it anywhere near me. Once they plant something it wipes out the original crop that might have taken ten of thousands of years to get to that point. Their goal is to patent everything, so they can gain ownership through that process, and the rules are pretty simple if that life form does not have a patent, then do so and it's yours to do with as you please, where does this all lead to. Us of course, in the end it's about slavery through patenting even us. Russia has gotten wise as have others and keep a tight handle on GMO's, we would be wise to do the same. I don't mean to put all the blame on Monsanto, as Dupont and others are also in this game as well. Bee decline world wide, discovered recently that pesticides are the main culprit, the research company that made this discovery then was quickly bought out by Monsanto. My guess is that somewhere down the line it will be discovered that GMO's in which the pesticide is engineered into the seed, will be linked to bee decline as well, as it's only logical that it would have the same impact as topical applications of systemic pesticides. I guess you can tell that I simply see no good in this at all. Companies so big and so greedy that they will do anything for a profit, which is basically how US corporate law dictates will lead to the destruction of anything in it's path is the way I look at it. if you say, well we need these kinds of technology to feed an over populating world, then you are either a troll for the chemical companies or just don't get and if you are hell bound on thinking this kind of technology is still OK then I suggest you eat more fructose corn syrup, sweet corn, soy milk, wheat, and farm raised salmon, and take a nice long soak in a bath of Roundup, as you can prove your point in a few more years from now if your still alive to do so.
