Detailed maps?

I'm on the hunt for detailed maps of various regions of Nicaragua, including topographical maps if they exist. Does anyone know of a store or government office in Managua where these are sold? If so, can you provide me with the address?

Many thanks for anyone who can provide me with this information.

Topographic maps

Several years ago the INETER website had topographic maps of all the quadrants available. Last I looked it still had the map of quadrant names and numbers. I recently found those same maps at this site: http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/topo/nicaragua/ (free to download) They are old maps, Masaya is 1972, but are highly detailed. Omnimap sells these for $19.95

Great snag! Thanks very much. An extremely useful link.

Electronic format

Many years ago I bought some maps from them. Quite a few were out of print. I then found a place on their old web site where they could be downloaded. I got the ones I wanted (and probably more) but there doesn't seem to be a place on their new web site where the maps are available.

I do know that MARENA has access to the electronic version.

Was this at all helpful

Maybe if you go there you could let us know if it was any good.

It's on my agenda for the week after next Juanno and I will post the info as soon as I get it.

Well I got there last week and was disappointed with what I found. Almost all of their maps are out of print. They will sell you digital copies of almost all of them though.

What Size Are

you looking for?

I could try running the file (s) through my wide format printer . . . .It's ink jet so if the map is being used outside (rain or humid environment) it will have to be sprayed with a fixative to keep the ink from running.

I can go 13 x 19 on the color laser printers; anything bigger has to go wide format.

What were they charging for the files ?

Thanks for the offer KWP I may take you up on it.

I am going to drop in again on Mon. and Tues. and will ask about the prices for their digital copies.

I`ve had luck with the MTI site

http://www.nicaliving.com/node/17604, although some don`t print real well because the type-size on the maps is too small.
