Jinotega roasted coffee -- hot air popper method

This is what the coffee looks like when it's finished roasting. I try for City Roast/City Roast Plus and try to stop the process before the beans show surface oils.

Home roasting coffee

Home roasted coffee is fantastic! The popcorn popper method works if you have the right brand of popper. A better method is with a heat gun because you can roast much larger batches but still have perfect control of the roast. Either method makes delicious coffee because of the freshness.

There's just me most days to drink it

The particular popcorn popper I found does it without a cover. I'm able to watch the coffee roasting and stop it where I want it.

The big beans I got may have been Maragopipe (a mutant arabica originally from Brazil) or a cross with that. I'll try them again once my Aeropress arrives or if I can get a French press before then. The ones I roasted were probably a bit old and it's a light structured bean, so it probably doesn't age well. Friends are also going to try it. Whatever, it doesn't do well in an electric coffee maker by one report I found on line. Also, if my friend knows the grower or processor, I might be able to get some of this year's crop when processing is done here.
